Will a 50.75" 8.75 flange to flange axle housing work?

I'm narrowing a Ford 9" now. It's gonna end up "somewhere" between the stock 8 3/4 housing width of 52 1/8" and 50" and "I don't care" where. The pinion will be centered regardless. LOL
