Not new to A-Body Only.com but am new to posting a thread. Have searched other threads and other sites and only jump on these threads if I have not been successful in finding what I am looking for. So here it goes. Live and work in South Western Montana. Own a 67 Barracuda and 68 Sweptline. Both have 318's. I am currently working on my Sweptline, repairing body panels, replacing brakes, interior and basically everything except the engine. Engine is out of an 83 truck (wish it were the original 68 stamp) but its not. Anyhow. Since I am replacing or repairing everything else it would be a shame not to get the engine gone through or rebuilt. As I have done everything else myself figured I could have the engine done by a professional that has the time and experience to do the work right. I have not had any luck locally in finding a professional shop that can help and we have a few mom and pop shops but have no first hand knowledge of them either. Had a 360 block for another project at a local shop for over 2 years and they just could not break away from working on heads for dealers to do a private build. Have also looked at crate engines from various builders including Blueprint, ATK and Carolina Machine. All have some good and lots of really bad reviews? Just want to have a stock 318 built that wont cost an arm and leg and will be dependable, no leaks, and run like a rebuilt engine should run. So, any suggestions on a local (Montana) shop or person that may be able to help me out would be great. Thanks in advance for your comments, experiences and suggestions.

If you are gonna rebuild a teener,for a truck;
IMO, it behooves you to bring the compression up, and put a lil more cam into it.Even if for no other reasons than for the Part-Throttle torque increase , and boost in fuel mileage. Pistons cost about the same, the cams all cost about the same.
If you intend to keep the log manifolds(edit; AND the stock cam) then there is no point in going very far, nor a good reason for a 4bbl.
The stock cam is in there for a reason and it was never intended to be very good at anything but having a smooth idle,lol.

Oh yeah; welcome!
