Built Small Block 360/727 Combo for Street/Strip Scamp. Opinions welcome!

-
Hello FABO members. I'm looking for some opinions on the drivetrain for my '72 Scamp. Looking to run 7.30s-7.50s in the 1/8 and still go to the occasional cruise night. But the car will see mostly track but only be on the street every once and a while. Here's What I'm thinking. Feel free to comment and make suggestions.
360 block bored .030 over with kb107 pistons
Holley strip dominator intake with 750 carb
Edelbrock Performer RPM 63cc heads
1.5 roller rockers
Stock crank and Rods with ARP Bolts (not looking to go stroker at the moment)
COMP XE294H Cam
727 with manual valve body, low first gear set, race clutches, etc
4300-4500 stall
8 3/4 Sure Grip with 4.30 Gears (debating 4.56s)
28x10x15 slick on 15x10 Weld Prostars (car has already been mini tubbed and springs relocated 4 inches)
Super Stock Springs
Adjustable shocks in rear
Car has disc brakes, and will have no back seat, 2 Kirkey racing seats and mild steel 8 point cage.
Look forward to input! Thanks in advance

You wont need the 4.56 gears with a 28 inch tire and the stock rods
You also probably wont need 4.30’s either
I have a stock shortblock 360 with 28 inch tires, and mildly ported eddies and have seen nothing going to 4.30’s from 4.10’s except more rpm.
You are going to want a solid cam, not what you are considering.
Mine has touched 7 teens, usually 7.20’s.

100% FACT. They are mild steel. And Earnhardt would be dead with or without a neck restraint.

Some people have no clue WTF is going on. There is nothing wrong with mild steel for many applications. Yes, it weighs more, but many drivers I see could lose enough weight to make up the difference. Plus, look over the cars and you'll probably find many places to save weight to make up the difference.
Aren't you the guy who square decks a block using the tops of the pistons? But you think you know WTF is going on. Not having neck restraint did kill Earnhardt. Severed his cervical spine from forward head motion. You might not have that problem. Since you build those muscles using that motion frequently.
Buddy you are way out in left field. Earth to space come in. My Duster is mild steel and IHRA and NHRA spec to 8.50. So are you saying they are idiots. Please tell me you are and Engineer because you sure would like a few I worked for. Book smart but an idiot in common sense
I am an Engineer. I never worked on cars at all. Everything I know I read about while I was riding on my train. You all do what ever you want. I myself would never use a mild steel cage in a car again. Like you said your self. $100 more and your buddy upgraded your cage to CM. Did you tell him he has no common sense? I didn't think so . Pay now or pay later its only a matter of time by your own admission. Well I have to get back to my design canvas on my train.

I read the report, the lack of a HANS device did not kill him. A combination of things did. One of his belts “dumped” and failed, he chose to route the crotch belt over the front of the seat pan instead of through it, he wore an open face helmet. all of this allowed him to move forward and rotate towards the passenger side of the car. His helmet rotated down exposing the rear base of his skull. As his body move back towards the seat the base of his skull contacted the edge of the steering wheel. Perpendicular to the steering shaft. At the time I don’t believe there was any time frame for belts.

Off topic but Dale would have never died that day if he was driving to win instead of blocking for his Son or teammate to win. And Dale was to stubborn to use the "proper seat" in his car. He did things his way. Now back to a moly cage is not needed or required for this car.

Ep, that's me. I've squared more blocks than you've seen.

You are making an *** of yourself. Stop now. You are just wrong. Again.

So true. Bill Simpson always told that block headed jackass Earnhardt he was mounting the belts in the car wrong. But Earnhardt was more knowledgeable that Simpson and that was one factor that got him killed.

No neck device would have saved his ***.

One thing I do know is what I was taught young in life. When some one has to revert to calling someone names . They are what they call people. And you my friend are a perfect example . In your eye's even Earnhardt was a jack ***. I admit I am not perfect either but I am young yet and have my whole life to learn.

Not every one has the same opinion on everything. I have seen enough carnage at my young age Towing cars and racing I will never just stick to what is needed to pass tech. I saw my son laying on a track and I will never forget what was going through my mind that day after seeing my dad killed.

You can apply your BS. how ever you want. You are still the laugh of my garage with your explanation of square decking a block. More members come here then you can imagine. There was one that said you have done many motors as you said. Some of them several times.

I was told you are in the video below and couldn't recall which method is yours. Could you point that out? Are you the guy with the super smooth garage floor?

Yep, that's how I do it. Again, you are wrong. About a lot of things. You and your "secret" oiling mods you won divulge and a host of other bullshit.

I'd bet everything you have you can afford to lose I can square deck a block quicker and just as accurate as you can do it. In fact, I doubt you do any machine work.

Blow

Boy this went way off topic & all the name calling isn't necessary.

I do everything with the best. I have the best Dewalt cordless tools money can buy. I get nothing but the best consumables from Harbor freight. And you are correct I did find that buying aerosol cans of paint. Poking holes in them and putting the paint in a gun is so much cheaper than mixing it yourself. Thanks for the tip.

I don't get what you mean by "Blow" Could you explain that to me? Are you looking make money or are you selling a nose product.

Later alligator . I'm out of here. I am sure I will hear from you elsewhere.

You might want to read this correction. I was personally told the lack of head restraint killed Earnhardt by Kyle Busch's friends Matt & Tony Hirshman that if he would have had head restraint he would more than likely be here. Tony has a NASCAR shop his son's are Matt and Tony Jr. a spotter for Kyle. Tony helped me build the Duster. That is where the mild cage was put in ???.

Medical expert confirms Earnhardt died of head injuries

Hey dugascarman, I bet you will think twice before you put the words " Opinions welcome" in your thread titles again!

Who would have thought- Earnhardt, neck braces, and roll cages? I don't think this was the answer he was looking for....

Not according to Bill Simpson. I have watched and read everything I can find on the subject and Bill Simpson told Earnhardt for YEARS he was mounting the harness WRONG. But Earnhardt was smarter than Simpson.

There is more to it than that. I'll read the link, but it's years too late. No neck device would have save him. I suspect this is history revision.

I just read that article. As I suspected, it's more revision than anything. The belts did NOT fail. Damn, this **** has been published many times before. I'll take Bill Simpson at his word. Not some guy who looked at pictures and made his opinion.

Again, Earnhardt had his own way of mounting the belts. Bill Simpson, who made the belts, told him multiple times they were mounted incorrectly. Simple as that. The belts didn't fail, and a neck device wouldn't have saved him.

two guy's / racers from Pa and they never met ? :wtf:

Yes haha, unfortunately these were not the opinions I meant. I meant opinions on my combos and how to get to my goal haha. Unfortunately it turned into a huge argument and unfortunately didn’t get me too far
