Carbon button in distributor cap broken off, melted

Check out the link above. Sometimes they get the rotation direction backwords too, or maybe that's the pickup polarity. :rolleyes: Didn't pay much attention as I've not playing with Pontiacs. Nothing against them of course.

I think that is part of the phasing issue, is that the big block rotates the opposite direction throwing the phasing way off for a small block.
Out of all the stuff I have seen the OE type electronic distributor is pretty hard to beat for your average driver street car.
I just recently bought a brand new one and swapped my timing parts over to it.
I also slotted the housing while I had it apart so I could adjust rotor phasing if I needed to, but it was right on the money.
