Will a 15X8 rim with 4 3/4" backspacing fit inside a stock 68 Dart rear wheel well. I do have superstock springs so she does sit a bit higher

8 3/4? 5x4.5” or 5x4” axles?

If it’s an A body 8 3/4 with BBP axles then yes. If it’s an A-body 8 3/4 with SBP axles you may need some spacers to keep the tires off the springs, depending on what you decide to run for tires.

I do have the big bolt pattern 5 X 4 1/2 on a 8 3/4 A body rear. Planning on running 245/60/15's. Would love to run 255/70/15's but I don't think they will fit. The 245's are 9.3 inches wide and the 255's are 10 inches wide

4-3/4 inch is just about the perfect backspace if you're using 4-1/2 inch conversion axles.

I believe the 255/70/15 or the 255/60/15's will fit. I found a conversion chart and punched in my current rim 15X7 with 1/4 inch back spacing with the 235/70/15 and the 15X8 with 4 3/4 back spacing with the 255/70/15's and I believe I'm going to be ok

Here are 15x7s with 255/60-15 M/T SS Drag Radials on a 69 dart .
I have 15x8 with same tires on my Cuda and it looks like the overall width of tire doesnt change much.

These are 4.5 Backspace IIRC and small bolt albeit custom Dutchman axles.

What back spacing do you have on the 15X7 rims. My 15X7's only have 1/4 inch back spacing and with the 235/70/15 I'm very close to the outside wheel lip, I had 245/60's on it and it was super close to the outside wheel lip. The 15X8's I'm looking at have a 3/4 back spacing which should give me enough room for the 255/70's or 60's haven't decided which one yet I hope.

I have 15X6 4.25 backspacing and I got an inch till the springs on the rim alone. I could use another 2 inches (15X8) outboard. this is on a 65 A 8.75 rear. dont know what tire to run but it needs to be a +>70 series to complete my stance.

I think you're OK with 255's. The one thing to watch for on the SS springs is the spring clamp locations, I remember they were close to the tire sidewall on the front spring segment. Anyway, the 8 inch rim reduces the amount of sidewall as compared to the 7 inch.
