Worth it?

I did not mean to smack those who likes 2 doors only, well, a little bit, maybe... we 4 door people get so hammered for our two extra doors that I think they can take a little heat... not really heat, just comfy warmth. :) (I do happen to really like the look of a 1969 Dodge Dart GTS, see, I can admit my faults, lol )

All good. Ya, I get dissed because I am a 273 fan and a believer in mild cams in 318's (unless you are building a race car) LOL Different strokes! One of the nicest cars I have owned was a 67 Coronet 440 4 door. It was a dandy!

Most will agree the 2 door car is worth more $ than a 4 door. They will also admit a 70 Challenger is worth more than 70 Duster. The initial cost of one is more than the other. BUT... It costs roughly the same to restore any car, 4 door, 2 door, Duster, Challenger. Initial cost of the project is different.
I like 4 doors and I like being different Same with wagons. Different. 99 of 4 doors have gone the way of the parts car. TOO bad really. It is great for a 4 door to give its life so another car can live on, but there are many solid and cheap 4 doors out there. Some of them deserve a life too!
Looks like a solid car, being in Ks I bet it. Like said, wash the heck out of it, get it running and on the road for cheap and enjoy it!!!! IF you will be happy, if not pass.

It is all about the seller and the buyer. You should buy it as a 4 door and sell it as a 2 door. Would give the best profit. For me, I never buy a car to sell it, or for profit. I buy it to own it and enjoy it. Quite a bit of difference there.

What is wrong with a 273 ? Sounds like an awesome little engine to me. People really diss you for that ? Oh man some folks have issues. Well, being a Norwegian I was dissed for owning American cars, that was a no no. I was using up the worlds oil resources they complained, and forgot to mention that they were flying to Spain on vacation once a year... So, I guess I know all about being dissed for being a little "different". I love being different, luckily I got the backbone to carry it.

well that quote did not work right...….like your post....most people never look at the direction of the other three fingers when thy point something out.

Right now I am trying to get with a guy to buy his 66 Belvedere. Yes it is priced at a parts car price, but I want it because I like being different some days. But even though these cars are my hobby, I still keep in mind what I spend and what I will get back WHEN I sell ( I never have kept anyone car over 5-6 years). I too measure my fun with old cars as smiles per mile, and fun per $ spent nd hours worked on them for free!!!
Just trying to point out all these cars cost more initially and it really basically costs no more to little more, to restore a hemi car than a slant car.

Try and find one . I have a 61 valiant 4 door and when I take it out to a car show it is amazing how many people look at it and talk about it as a matter of fact I had it parked next to a roadrunner and more people looked at it over the roadrunner. If it has a good body I would clean it up and drive it.

Whatever you do just don't paint the wheels red and the body flat black. That is commonly done to these cars and it looks really stupid.

I think whomever came up with that probably wore skinny jeans and smelled like marijuana and has no hopes of ever getting a job..... ever

Bargain for $500 if you can, then throw a couple hundred in parts for a decent runner or part it out. Like someone said, they all cost the same to restore, so the potential end product is what counts. Not worth restoring unless you know that's the car for you. Don't fool yourself into thinking it'll be a bargain for a restoration because the initial outlay is low.

I prefer 4 doors myself. Nice 4 doors get tons of attention. All I see at car shows is Barracudas, Dart GT's and Swingers. Gets old to me real fast.

I can't drive my 4 door anywhere without people wanting to talk about it, lots of them aren't even car guys. If it won't take much to get it running just drive it, only part it out if it has rust issues that would be too much to deal with.

I couldn't really say if its "for parts" or "restore" unless it was right in front of me to see everything. Honestly from what I see in the pics I think Id buy it either way since I love early a bodies. Id just drag it home but I don't get accused of making good decisions very often when I aquire more yard art.

ok guys, Update.. finally got back out to the car to look it over. The body is really good, and the rockers and the arches (inside and out) are all really decent too.. but those floors are the killer for me.. they are gone. front and back. After just doing my Disuster floors, I really dont want to be put through that again! The trunk floor looked rough as well.

So we came to a deal. I will give him $300 for the A/C stuff, power steering stuff and the cylinder head. These parts will be used on my Disuster. I will then post the car on Craigs List or FB marketplace and sell the rest as a parts car and he will keep the money from that sale. End of the day, he gets more money and I get parts without having to buy the entire car... It only makes sense because I dont usually have $600 laying around. Keep in mind we are not strangers, we have wheel'd and dealed before!

The only caveat is that you guys may want parts from it, in which It might work well for me to just buy it, but I will need feedback from y'all first. I see there is already some "wants" floating around.

Get the front grill and headlight rings if they are as nice as they look. They are big money......

Another big 273 fan. My 65 had a heavily modified 273 who put shame to the many of the modified SS Chevy's in town.

If you sell parts you will need to start a for sale thread. Thanks

Sorry Mike, I sent him one already. I guess I should learn to take a hint. Lol. Life sucks with a grille-less dart. I'll send another pm.

Have you started a want ad for your grille? I bought an extra one for $100 off a wanted ad here.

I did a while back. No luck so far. This one is near me so that's why I was so interested. Thanks though.

I'm looking at acquiring the car eventually. Have another "More important" acquisition in the works. I will sell parts once I get it, and what is left Will be scrapped unless somebody wants the shell!

"more important" acquisition just fell through. I'll hopefully be picking this up next weekend. then we can work on that for-sale stuff!

I got my 66 four door for $350 because it was in bad shape, more than that. I’m putting in work to restore it but it makes a nice daily driver now with a lot of appreciation coming from everyday people. Power wash that thing, wash the engine bay, do the brake system, fuel system, cooling system, remove the AC system and put it aside, get new tires, new radiator and suspension, cover the seats with some sarapes(Mexican blankets). New battery, crank it, drive it and there you go, MOPAR.
