Getting ready to start thinking about getting ready to start thinking about buying a muffler for the '63 Dart GT. I'm pretty sure I want to go with a glasspack. What are your opinions on Cherry Bomb vs Thrush? What sizes do you all recommend? I'm thinking 18" long, 3.5" round with 2.25" inlet and outlet.

Glasspacks are like any other muffler. The longer the body is, the quieter they are. Since glasspacks are LOUD anyway, I would be careful. You should go longer than normal with a glasspack. I don't think I would use less than a 24" body. And that's the BODY length, not counting the inlet and outlet. Glasspacks can sound good if you do it right, but if not, they sound like total ***, especially on a six cylinder.

Soren, I’m using Hooker 3 into 1 headers on my Slant. From the collectors I run 2 1/4” aluminized pipes off each collector with an H-pipe between the two back to a pair of 18” glass pack mufflers then around the gas tank to bright tips.
Rusty is correct, research this issue so you have the sound your looking for. Actually I like the sound from the back of car, at idle to me, sounds like a small V-8.
Thanks, Al

Listen to this bad boy right here! lol

98% of them only sound 'nice' at idle and slow cruisin, but their sound turns to **** at any higher rpm-range.
M.O. ;)

I’ve always told the guys at cruises and shows that it sounds great at idle but drive off and has that definite 6 cyl. sound. Thanks, Al

I tend to agree....and if they don't sound like *** above idle, they soon will after they burn out.

Just about anything is going to sound better than the almost non-existant swiss cheese exhaust I have right now ;-)

I have always enjoyed the sound of a six cylinder motor, at any RPM. Not a school bus sound but it has a note all it's own. But I guess every one has an opinion. I just installed a 14 inch magnaflow with a single 2.5 inch pipe. I like it at all rpm.

If you own an E-body car with Slant6 power, one thing I’ve found is it better sound good.
