Right Speakers?

I was making a pair of dual 3.5" dash speaker mounts out of scrap aluminum I had from work. One for my 67 and one for my sons 69. There was an extra piece of aluminum sized just right for a 3rd one, and I made one out of it for Dan's Cuda. Just sent it to him as a gift. I dont do these as a sideline or anything like that, as I am just too busy to do these on a volume basis. Just cutting the holes and shaping them took a lot of time with chain drilling then filing the roughness smooth.

I am so busy I dont always have the time to mess with this stuff, plus it's easier to template something out of cardstock paper than it is to actually whittle it out of .100" - .125" thick aluminum plate. It may end up being 6 months before I get time to make these up.

Heres the custom 4x6 grilles I may be fabbing up for 2 cars now. Didnt see any 4x6 grilles I liked. Choices are very limited, plus i am OCD about how stuff fits. Template took 20 mins to whip up, the grilles will take a lot longer.

The template will make the grilles fit tighter closing up any gaps around the speakers. Will make the pieces out of .100" - .125" aluminum plate, plan on bevelling the edges, and counter sinking the screw holes. I have heavy gage stainless steel screen from McMaster Carr (not window screen) going to bond that on behind the hole cutout. Gonna paint the grille frames semigloss black, and leave the screen natural stainless silver color.
