No denying those cars are a great package.

At 160 MPH, why aint he dragging the laundry on the big end?

i would not want to stop that with the brakes alone....

Nice shot and yeah, that sucker is moving!

Dose he still have a license plate on it?
Because that would be fun!

Not with the Coyote motor Doug.
MT1 Lambert would blow his motor trying to boost it into the 9’s. The stock Block would not hold the power.

One of my shipmates raced one and spent 17,000 on an aftermarket block to get past the 10's.
I asked why he didn't just install a 540 cubic inch stroked 460 with John Kaase hemi/boss heads, he wanted it 'streetable?' with the stock wiring.

I have a Facebook buddy that has a newer mustang he runs 6.5s (in the 1/8th) on a stock engine with twin turbos. He has done alot of work to the suspension but it's a full weight car with the factory coyote 5.0 .

My goal is a mopar small block that is required to run a parachute at the track and still has a licence plate for street use.

Its a fine line between "street legal" and getting your car impounded and eating green bologna samwitchs for dinner....

What is the max speed at the track without a chute?

Remove your go fast parts and run yours again.Mustang will still beat it. :) :)
Thanks for vote of confidence Mr. Ford...I do run an ALL production iron 342 ci. single 4 automatic 3000 lb. .500 lift solid cammed home built Mopar good for 11.80s I am proud of.

Didnt see the chute because I took the picture before it was out. SCR has a very long shut down area as the dragstrip dumps on to the road course. Have a friend that runs in the 7's...he has never used his chute..just take the long way back to the pits...
Not with the stock block? Hmmm...this guy has 4 of these things if I heard right. Black one he bought up here couple years back was in the low 8's with the factory motor...Like I said, hate all you want.
Unplug the computer? Do that to the beloved Demon and see how well it runs.
Take the forced induction off...again...take the blower off of any one of the FatCats and see how it runs.
You folks...truly entertain me. You just can't accept the fact that Mopar doesn't build the best of everything...lol...

Having recently owned a 2013 Mustang with the Coyote 5.0 and a 2011 Camaro SS 6.2 LS3 motor, I can attest to just how quick these modern muscle rides are. I have not owned a 6.1 or 392 Challenger, but I did have a 2005 Magnum R/T 5.7 hemi. They are all impressive packages on their own right, but also all were naturally aspirated and I can't draw any comparison to the Demon or Shelby GT500 and the supercharged powerplants those cars offer. I just find the power levels available in today's factory hot rods as a modern marvel, regardless of how they are achieved, and these cars all get respectable fuel economy besides. That part is what is truly amazing.

give me half the $$ that chrysler, ford or chevy has into developing any of their drag pak cars and let me see what i can run... oh, i'm sorry, but mine won't have blue tooth

I may be barred from the site for saying this, but if I was going to buy a modern performance car, it would likely be a Mustang. The Challengers are pretty nice, but I do like the Mustang better.

I really liked the Mustang, it had more room for me 6'7" than the Camaro did, plus I didn't smack my head on the roof getting in the car like I did on the Camaro with it's low roofline. I have driven a few late model Challengers and a few first gen ones, they offer a lot more room for me as well, and I would not mind owning a modern one, but the reason I sold the Mustang was I just didn't get enough time to drive it, a lot of money sitting in the garage, otherwise I would more than likely still have it.
