Yep ! When.. I always drive a little to fast, I listen to Clapton, Allman Bros., ZZ, SRV, etc. I look at the young things (not to young, I'm a grandfather, late 20's ok). When I look in the mirror, it's me, a bit banged up but still me. I'm walk a little slower, have aches, a little less hair, more stomach, but I still wake up to the big top sheets some mornings, no problem there. Wife of 42 yrs. is seven years younger, that's always been a benefit.

My dad seemed old, although he passed two years before my current age. He was home, in his garden or just relaxing on the patio and satisfied. He came over in '31, and lived through the depression, raised three boys, so I know he earned the right to sit back.

Me, I hate sitting in the house, can't watch much TV, in the garage at night cleaning up things that don't need cleaning or moving things around. Music on, a cold one, munching on something and thinking what can I build here or in the basement. Sometimes we jump in the car at night and just drive somewhere 20 miles for a coffee or something just to be out. Travel when we can get away. Always something, and yet I'm looking around the corner wondering.

I'm wondering when that old guy is going to kick in. I'll be 70 (holy ****) this Oct. and I guess that number has me wondering what's next, besides the inevitable, which I don't ponder. :)

We all age.

'Growing up' can kill.

So, never, ever grow up. :)

I say, when you quit dreaming you start dying.

Best to keep moving, stop moving and everything rusts up and then won't move any more.

I think as we get older, we slow down and smell the roses more, appreciate each day more, and ponder how it all got here.

I sometimes wonder the same thing.

Im 40 now and some times i will be talking to someone who looks "old" only to find out they are just about my age.....
Altho i like to think im ageing well, i still get carded for beer.

The day I get 'old' is the day I stop listening to new music.
Once you get 'locked in' to only listening to the age you were young, at your 'best' in your mind, is the day you stop 'growing'.
Rock and Roll is still very much alive today. Fire up some Papa Roach, or even Foo Fighters. If you're not into Rock (god forbid pop stuff), country is good too, even though I think 'Country' is just 20 year old 'Rock' (Elvis is now 'country' stuff, ook).
You're only 'old' if you think you are. :)

Great story and deep thoughts. Just went through open heart surgery. I think I will be playing a little more when I get back on my feet. And why not.

i've worked at the same place for 35 yrs this nov. when i started, there were a lot of old guys that soon started retiring. now, all the people around the same age as me are starting to retire. and i remember, all those old guys looked old. they looked just like people in old pictures from 20 or 50 years before then, just different clothes. but to me, and the others my age, we don't look like we still picture old(er) people looking :wtf:. the only people that look like that are the guys that left 10 or 20 years ago that come by to say hi. and i look around sometimes and wonder if anyone knows there's a bunch of juveniles (and i mean that in the worst sense of the word :D) running the place.
so i don't know when you officially become old, but i do know that if you sit your *** down and don't do anything, you get there a lot faster

They say you're only as old as you feel. Some days it's 18, others 80! You only have one shot at it. Make it count.

There is an easy answer. They say if you fall down and everyone starts laughing, you're still young. But if you fall down and everyone runs over to help you up and ask if you're OK. Then guess what? Yup - sorry - Olde!

I’ve noticed lately that I am at the age where the pretty young girls hold the door open for me now.....

Get your projects done by the time your 50 so you'll have time to enjoy them.

I've been screwing with this dirt car project for four years now... accumulating used parts as i can afford the. I seldom buy anything new... haven't had a credit card for 25 years... pay cash or I don't buy it. But it takes longer to accumulate what you need...

Next season I'll be the 71 year old rookie runnning late models at my home track. Raced for 20 some years but quit in the late 80's. Did have a couple nights in the late model cars but not enough to count.

These new 4 bar chassis are so over my head it will be a learning curve for sure.

I had two major surgerys planned for this summer/fall. Cancelled both until I really need them (shoulder re-do and new knee). Time to have fun not therapy.

Never is my answer as long as you stay positive & active. Every day you wake up breathing is a great day so make it a great day.

20 years ago I saw a picture in Men's Health magazine. A guy was looking in the mirror. The reflection in the mirror was 30 years younger than the guy looking at the mirror.

That stuck with me all these years. Mid 30's then, now mid 50's and I feel the same way. I'm afraid I look a lot older to other people than I look to myself.

Oh well, like others have said, live life to abandon. I've been ridden hard and put away wet for many years and hopefully for many more. But I'm ready to go when the good Lord calls me home...even if it's tonight.

When I turned 50 I started calling myself a "Middle Aged Juvenile Delinquent", I'll be 60 in December, I think I'll still keep that description.

Seeing ZZ and Cheap Trick at Verizon Ampitheater in a month. Invited several friends! We can feel old at the show! Hope they preform well!

My mind has stayed young, its just my body that's aged, wish my body would follow my mind, just got to keep pushing.

Unfortunately, aging is not a linear curve. I just hurt my back last week, on top of some increased back pain months before, possibly a complication of my broken ribs.

Anyhow the Doc has me on some steroid stuff, and some relaxant drug. I've taken very little of the relaxant, but this stuff is kickin my ***. Got very little done this week, and missed work

Still better than that other place.................
