trailer winch

-
I got the cheapest HF remote winch about three years ago. Also got a "pulley hook" so I can double line pull. My ramps are short and pretty steep, and I have pulled 4,000 pound rolling cars on with no problem. Don't use it much (just in case I brake my race car), but never had a problem. Great deal on sale for $49. The winch is bolted to the trailer tongue. I have mine wired right from the truck battery with 8 gauge wire, to the trailer connector, and then from the connector to the winch with 10 gauge. I did find out the remote batteries give no warning before going out. Worked one day, didn't work the next. I keep a spare set of batteries in the glove box.

@67Dart273 - how are you using that hook receiver for the winch?.

I just attach a small clevis/ anchor shackle (name I was taught) through the eye on the back, and plug the "wench" in. It works pretty well. That is how I got the junk boat up on the trailer. I don't think I even used the snatch block

..............this one, hauled home on a little tiny "used to be" tent trailer

Welded a Reese type receiver on the front of my trailer, and mounted my 2500# HF winch on a hitch ball mount, so I can take it off when not in use. I've used it to load several cars. Loaded a 1/2 ton, 4WD truck, and had to help it with a come a long.

I got the winch off, and started tearing it apart. It had been welded on sometime back in its life. It was a 2500 pound raqmsey, and never seemed to have enough power for the heavier jobs I used it for.
Th lighter cars were not much problem. Think the new one being a little more than double the straight line ''rolling" pull will be good for me , unless it`s all hype .
More to come, be here next Tuesday --------

OK, I'm still not seeing it....

Got a pic?

Last time I looked, Superwinch was defunct.
I'd do a Warn M8000. Likely will last an eon doing light duty.

X2 I have two M8000 winches, on on the front of my truck, and the other on my trailer, they are both around 10 years old.
Warn “M” series is still made in the USA.
The cheaper Warn VR series are made in China.

Summery,
You get what you pay for.
I guess Superwinch know's they built a good product seeing they still offer for sale the same model 30 + years later and support it with replacement parts if ever needed.
A quality investment pays dividends in the long run.

lol I did say last time I looked. Looks like Superwinch was bought out by Westin. There was a short period where you couldn't buy anything Superwinch or have any contact with Superwinch. I guess I don't have to worry about my LP8500.

Superwinch closes business
