I am trying to remove a pitman arm from a steering box I have. I so far I have bent two pitman arm pullers trying to get the damn thing off. I have heated it with mapp gas, and then sprayed it with CRC freeze penetrating oil multiple times, then used my impact gun on the pullers. Sonofabitch wont come loose. As a last resort I am going to remove the box from the car, pitman arm and all, and cut the effing thing off. Anybody got any other ideas besides using dynamite on this one?

if you drilled a couple holes in the pitman arm close to the splinned shaft (but not too close, it would relieve some of the tension on it and it should come off easily. It should drill pretty easy,it's not hardened steel .

Well then----

Shoot it!
(that's my answer for everything from ants to stubborn car parts):D

Apply heat to the arm only and then shock it with a hammer blow!

A soak in PB Blaster would not hurt prior to heat as well.

Well I never had one that stubborn. Maybe it should go!

I have never had one I couldn't get off with a Matco puller, it wont bend, it might break but it wont bend. in 35 years I had it replaced once replaced the screw once. I live in Ohio, major salt in the winter so major rust also

I have the same puller. Had some tough SOB's but eventually won out. Under pressure with a BFH, they all have succumbed.

Or perhaps like that one upper ball joint I had to put the 6’ cheater pipe on, the POS tack welded it and it was hard to see. It snapped hard and sent me on my arse!

My Matco puller never failed me.

If you have an Oxy-Acytlene rig, that might be better if you're good with it. Sometimes a MAPP gas torch tip is too large, and the shaft gets hot as fast as the arm. A neutral Oxy-Acytlene flame directed at the arm only may be better.

Worked for Elvis! He shot his Pantera.....I had a hell of a time with something like that and I put a ton of torque on the jack bolt and slept on it. Next day I found it on the floor! Strange......how hard would it be to get a cut off wheel into the side of the pitman arm? hit it with a MIG welder with wire turned down. run a bead on the outside, that **** will get hot fast.
