Turn signal switches going bad is pretty common in these cars and are still in stock at the dealership. Check the dash lights by rotating the headlight switch back and forth. Sometimes this cleans up the rheostat and you'll see the lights flicker on. If not, it may the bulbs are all burned out which is also a pretty common problem. I'm still chasing a flasher problem on my own vehicle.

I know you take your family out in this so while cleaning up under hood, I'd get rid of those battery cables with the temporary ends on them. I've seen them fail several times, usually at the most inopertune times. That and getting rid of the universal radiator hose will keep the purists off of your back when you pop the hood.
