Is the Milodon 31000 the only option for a 5.7 for less than $225? Will any of the Mopar OEM pans from trucks, etc. work?

I don’t think you will find a cheaper one than that. I payed double that 10 years ago for mine. As far as I know there are no other OEM pans that will fit. Charlie’s Pans are more, but better quality and fit.

I actually read a thread on a Charlie pan that was incredibly low quality. Not certain which site it was on, possibly an e body one. And the customer service was crap to get it fixed. Only review of one of those pans I ever read, good or bad.

Maybe so, I may be confused someone on this site had one built by someone and I thought it was Charlie’s Pan. I’ll see if I can find who it was.

So it sounds like Milodon oil pan it is. I have heard more often than not, people are not too impressed with the quality. I’ve read several places where the welds leak, Fit up is not too good, etc. etc.

Do you know if you have to change the stock pan if using a QA1 crossmember?

My 66 Satellite 6.1 is using a Charlie's oil pan. I know it's a B body, but the quality I thought was unsurpassed. Only suprise was it's 8 quarts with the small filter.

chances are, that is still better then milodon

Not saying it isn’t better, just stating a review I read. I used a Milodon, it wasn’t incredible as far as how it is built/stamped, but it fit fine. I am not saying it is fabulous, but no real issues with fitment . Fitment was the main thing that guy was bitching about. Bolt hole alignment etc.

Not to rehash the whole Milodon thing yet again as there are passionate valid opinions on both sides. All I know is I have three of them presently, one of which is in fact on a 6.1 I stuffed in a 72 Demon. Not the best craftsmanship in the world but simply put they all bolted up fine and none leak. Zero issues for me.

That sucks. I think that is the first complaint like that I have read. As far as leaking at a weld.
Other than that the fitment was good until I went to the alterkation with a rack and pinion then, not so good. It was real tight. I think they changed the design some since I bought mine in 2009.

Same here, Sublime. I am not loyal to anyone in the Gen 3 thing. I have had ZERO issues with the 5 Milodon pans I have used.

My Milidon pan leaks to sorta. I thought would be nice to use the factory oil pan gasket/windage tray. Well it seems to match up almost perfect. On the dyno oil kept running out the corner of the pan near timing cover. pan was more squared off than factory gasket and it left a small passage. Milidon has their gasket but it junk cork and requires using 2 of them and their windage tray. That was my experience at least.
Stefs makes a very nice oil pan with center sump just like the Milidon but its 620ish from modern muscle. But is sure is purdy lol.

I have heard this several times. What is the remedy here? My milodon actually showed up this afternoon and the 1st thing I thought was wonder if it leaks. I bought it from JEGS with the thought being, if it leaks, send it back. Yes? But too, I also thought maybe, is there enough permatex at Auto Zone to seal it if it does leak?

The thing to lok out for is where the timing cover and the rear main seal housing meet the block. There are small voids that need to be filled with RTV.

That’s the secret? That I bet I can handle. I thought most were saying root of the leak was weld porosity/voids.

Thank you for the heads up!
