Looking to replace front frame rails ( using 2×3 tubing) and possibly the K-member ( coil overs).
'62 Lancer. Frame rails definitely need to be replaced.

Should l jig off the original suspension pick up points, or are there any changes l should be aware of to help geometry ?

I'm thinking Ma Mopar pretty well did her homework designing things even in 1962 ( but before radial tires)

Any input is greatly appreciated.

I would go off the original frame dimensions, it will be easier to fit body parts and you can modify the suspension for better handling.

Thank you for your reply.
I knew there were mostly " B & B" ( Buy & Bolt on") members. ( ie : not fabricators) on here but l thought l would ask anyhow.
I will carry on with my original plan nonetheless.
Appreciate it.

I would do some serious research before I removed the stock suspension. It's very formidable for a myriad of motorsports activities.

Left front frame rail is nearly non existent. Read as - Rotted away. Part of K member is same way.
This car sat outside for 30+ years with the hood open. Grass, trees( which l am sure were very young or not even there when it was parked), leaves etc. has taken its toll on the underside.
Surprisingly the Right side and most of the floorpan .. "ain't bad".
I am a welder/ fabricator who mainly deals with circle / oval track cars.
I have my own chassis jig and can adapt it to most any car.

I was just searching for ideas / knowledge.
I understand that most ( 99.3%) of the racers on here are of the straight line variety.
I have been racing Vintage stock cars for about 15 years or so. And racing oval track in one form or another since 1973.
I have won on dirt. Won on asphalt. And made a pass down the dragstrip at Steel in Motion in Union SC. WITH THE SAME CAR. Mopar bodied.
Getting "hooked up" is a bit different between the two. LOL

Thank you Rusty for your input.
I have been following your build as well.
