We weighed Jasons valiant the other day, and we’re kinda shocked at its portlyness. Lol.

We didn’t build it to be light, and didn’t cut weight anywhere. But wow!

Here’s the rundown.

1963 Plymouth Valiant 2 door hardtop
1983 318, iron heads, cast iron exhaust manifolds.
Tf727 trans with stock converter
Ford Explorer 8.8 axle
Sound deadner
Full interior minus back seat
American racing Torque Thrust wheels. 15x4/15x8
3/4 tank of fuel
Jason, 200 lbs

Weight

Front- 2260
Rear- 1380

Total- 3640

Like I said. We didn’t expect it to be light, but 3640 seems crazy!

What’s everyone’s thoughts?

Thanks. Eric

Yep. A little porky. Nice ride though.

My 1965 Dart GT 273 added front sway 8.75 Kelsey Hayes brakes. Weighed in at 3040 lbs full tank gas. Dustin

Without driver I’m assuming?

That’s the crazy part here.

The scale is known to be accurate.

We love the car the way it is. No doubt. But it would be nicer if it was a little lighter. Lol

Yep without driver. I’m just using a local truck scale I drive on.

Come on guys, this is crazy. Take it to a real scale, and no driver.

We did. This was at a truck stop. You would think it would be accurate wouldn’t you?

Not a cat scale. Didn’t have one close. But I’ve used this one in the past.

But……we all know all it takes is one 19 year old chicken hauler to spike the brakes on the scale to **** it up.

But……update……we just rescaled at another truck scale……it was the scale. Lol.

3250 with 200 lb driver.

I always scale with driver. Cars don’t race themselves. Lol

So yeah. 3250 is much much better. Lol

How do you know the second scale was accurate?

So 3050 lbs empty.

For everything we added I’m kinda shocked at how light it is now. Lol.

When we thought it was heavy I started going back through everything we added to the car and realized how heavy we built it. LOL

The toads are even lighter. The 8.8 is 20 less than a 8.75, The 727 is 35 lbs heavier than a 904. The bucket seats of a 65 Barracuda are about 70lbs a piece.

Yeah. Our seats are quite a bit lighter than that from the feel of it. 2009 Kia seats.

I didn’t figure the 8.8 would be lighter. That thing was kinda portly?

Yeah! Them damn 65 Barracuda seats are heavy damn things...I never could figure out why they were built that way. I'll be going through mine pretty soon and I'm going to see if there is a way to lighten them up.

Keep shoppin scales around and you'll see 2900 pounds sooner or later. lol
