........Which sounds cool, until I tell you there was only 12 in the field, LOL.

It was a good time, first time doing the "instant green" tree. That thing was really strange...no amber lights, just stage it and the green light turns on. I was running 10.4's, which was perfect because it gave me room to play.

First round was an easy win, because I just raced the guy in the previous practice round, and he ran 10.63 all out in practice. I started slowing down after 1000' and took a very comfortable half a car at the stripe.

Rd 2, I KNEW I would break out if I made a full pass...I mentally prepared to drop ANYONE that ran right next to me....so what do I do....I run my opponent all the way down the 1/4, only and inch or two in front or behind the whole way and in my INFINITE wisdom I decided to leave my foot on the floor....stupid stupid stupid. I lost on a double breakout (my 10.44 to his 10.45). I could have easily won that race if I stuck to the plan and dropped him at the stripe...I just forgot about the plan for a few seconds...literally. I realized it as soon as his win light came on

Oh well, still had fun.

I also ran my regular bracket class Sunday....my "new" carb cost me another round of racing (only this time it was not the final...THANK GOODNESS!).

I'm about ready to pull that carb...not happy with it....AND it is still not any faster than the carb I built myself.

Carb stumble Rd1=bad light= buy backs, lol. I made an adjustment and it worked well Rd2 (no stumble, 0.014 light), then Rd3 I red lite HARD...that was not the carbs fault, that was the nut behind the wheel (first red light in years).

I will continue to tune that carb into the fall...or I'll just switch from foot brake to pushing a button (4 wheel line lock, 2-step) and then I won't have to deal with the carb stumble, LOL.

LMAO! And I just repaired a bunch of damage to front end after promising to not panic and lift when nose came up! Yep lifted and front dropped like a rock. Funny how we have all this stuff sorted out in our head and the tree goes green and instant vortex between my ears! Practice practice practice! Have a great summer!

I think a 4150 carb with a 1.600 venturi is going to be a challenge to get bog/hesitation free on a small block foot brake combo........ but I’ll keep watching to see how you go about trying to sort it out.

"Fun" is the most important part. Glad you're back at it man. I've always liked your car.

You are probably right. I'll let you know if I find a consistent way to make this thing behave itself.

1.60 Venturi? What size throttle plates?

Perhaps an e85 thing. I have a 4150 based carb 1.48 Venturi and 1.79 throttle bores and it was always very responsive on race gas. Just couldn’t tune it for below 800DA. Sure there’s a way, just not in my parts bin. :) fascinating stuff I need more knowledge in...
