I have a 1971 Swinger. The turn signals blink slow at a red light with other electrical loads on (wipers, headlights,etc...), but will blink faster when rpms are increased. Would an electronic flasher cure this problem? If so, can you suggest a brand of electronic flasher to purchase?

No. Your charging voltage has dropped at idle with other consumers. Need to upgrade with relays to carry current load off battery power away from ignition dependent source.

First make sure your charging system is working properly, maybe upgrade to a square back alt if you don't already have. My Duster was doing this and a new alt. solved the problem.

Yes, an electronic one should have a constant rate. Many use them for pulling a trailer. Just don't get the one that plays Elvis' "Love Me Tender". I thought that would be cool, but drove me nuts after a few days, especially with the radio on.

To kick start a 4 year old thread, I just installed an Electronic flasher and yes, problem solved. BTW my headlights are on relays, but that still didn't help the stock flasher.

Electronic flasher may cure the one condition you have noticed but... if the charging system is weak, every circuit is effected.

Sometimes if you don't notice a problem it's good enough. :D

My car has been rewired, it idles fast "around 1100" , doesn`t have a fall off , and doesn`t need relays. And the turn signals are slow , think I need a diff. flasher ---------

Has it been repainted? Weak grounds at lamps/sockets/fixtures, missing ground jumper or otherwise weak ground from chassis to battery neg' will slow signal operation too.

For the cost of an electronic flasher it's certainly worth a try.
The old bimetal flashers can get whacked out from all the normal heat cycles, like slow operation or even fast and short flashes.

But I like the click of the old flashers. I went through 2 or 3 to get the right sound!

I don't care about the click one way or the other, and I have the fender top indicators as well as the LED dash indicators so I have plenty of "indication" of them being on.
Actually I wrapped the flasher unit in foam to get it to shut the hell up.:D

Got more grounds than the factory used !

Samr here , I always loved the fender/hood mounted indicators .
I think I may have a 4 way flasher in the signal socket ------------
