Engine swap 4,7 to 5,2!

My son bought a 2001 Dakota SLT w/4,7 Magnum. The engine is shot after 236 000 miles! Now he found a nice 5,2 Magnum from a 1997 or 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 12000 miles on it. Will that swich be ok? Any problems etc? The seller is asking usd 500 for the 5,3 M.

Since I'm into older stuff I hope to get some great answers!

you could swap it, but you would have to change every thing over, as in wiring harness, computer, and anything 5.2 related. i dont think the 4.7 tranny will bolt up to the 5.2, so you would have to deal with that also. then there is the gauge cluster to contend with. it could get expensive. you would probably be better off finding another 4.7 for it.

Yes, u need to change absolutely everything, nothing interchanges. It’s a night mare. Personally I would never buy any Chrysler product the has the 2.7,3.7 or 4.7 Kim
