Of all the ridiculous things to get hung up on, this is just aggravating. I'm trying to put plug wires on the drivers side of my '67 273, but with the heat shield in the way, there is not even close to enough room for my big hands to hold the boot and snap it into place. The edges of those shields are sharp and I'm going to end up with bloody hands. I'm using a stock set of wires from Napa. Anyone have a trick to getting those things on there?

Show us a picture just to make sure.

Well there is quite a selection out there of about any angle or option.
Insulated, non insulated and angles of all kinds, but here's a basic one on Amazon.

I actually prefer insulated if I'm going to bother with them just because you can pull a wire on a running engine if you wish.

On is usually easy. Taking them off is a turd without pliers.

Thanks everyone for the advice. It seems like more and more of the problems I have these days lead me straight to Amazon.

With some lube you might side the boots back, attach wires, slide boots back down into place. Depends on how boots fit though. Modern aftermarket may not cooperate like OEM did.
Most of todays boots are made of high temp silicone. Thus we don't need the heat shields.

You make a good point. The shields on my car are very thin with age, and they just popped off. Looks like they were held on with 3 small spot welds or rivets. I used the plug wire pliers from the top and reached up from the bottom and snapped them right on. I’ll keep my eye on the boots to make sure the heat doesn’t mess them up.

I used Accel Extreme 9000 wires on a truck that just ate regular wires up. Good stuff.
