I have a 71 duster with 318 engine auto trans that has14" Rally sport wheels. Standard suspension. What's the biggest tire size I can fit on the rear?

Your problem is getting a tire. From what I remember last, the biggest I have seen is a 245/60/14. But poke around the net! You never know what you’ll find. Good luck.

Oh! Welcome aboard!

I don't think those would fit in the wheel wells. I'm wondering if 225 70s will fit without rubbing.
Thanx. This forum should be a big help.

I just bought these on Saturday for the front 215/70/14 Large bolt pattern.

Whoa wait a minute here my man. at the risk of sounding like a school teacher.... while I answered your question, your question was not complete. It did so lack information. Wheel width. I just have you the (approximate) largest size available for 14 inch wheels. If they fit your wheel, this I do not know. That part is how wide the wheel is.

On tire sites, often the better ones will state how wide a wheel can be for the tire choice made. Also, just because a BFGOODRICH fits one rim, the same tire size from another brand may not fit because it is to wide for the wheel. Or to narrow.

If you go to Summit racing, there tire side bar information column should state wheel width max and min.’s for the tire selected. THAT! Will be of awesome use and help for you.

One last thing, the front handles less tire width than the rear end does. So where the tire is used is also key to max and min sizes.

Look for a sticky thread in wheels and tires for what many have done and how.

325/50-15s will fit in the tubs, with a little massaging and no air-shocks, lol. But you will need to move the springs and get some custom bs wheels. And you will have to slow down for the turns. If you narrow the rear to the limit of the new spring location, then you can run off-the-shelf 4.5bs wheels.
295/50-15s on 10s are an easier fit,and you can powerslide to your hearts content.
275/50-15s on 8.5s are a bolt-on deal with a 4.5bs

He didn't ask what's the biggest tire I can put on a 14.
The 1971, 14" Rallys I think are 5.5s so came with E70s, previously called 7.35s, so that would be ~195s max.
I just answered the question between the periods.

I've been running 245-60 14 TA radials on 3 1970 Darts for over 25 years - on the back, on Mopar small bolt Rallyes. Better would be one of the modern Rallye repops (Wheel Vintiques, etc.) that are 6 inches wide instead of 5.5. I fit 7 inch Rallyes with 5 inches of backspace - but needed to use the MP kit to move the springs in 3/4 inch on both sides to make them fit.

But on a budget the standard Mopar Rallyes will work safely. 205-70-14s on the front will work easily and the sidewall height will nearly match the 245-60-14s on the back. All this said your Duster has more room than my Darts do...

Hey guys. My Dad’s got a 72 duster 340. We are getting ready to buy some new rubber as well. It currently has 245\60-14 all the way around. All though these are wide enough I’d like to go bigger (taller) in the rear and a little more narrow and shorter in the front. Everything is stock, including the 14” rally wheels. I’m not sure of the back spacing on these stock rally’s...and any more information that you may need to know...please ask. Thanks for the help! Pic to follow

You have 245/60 r14s on a stock 14x5.5 ralley?

Your best bet is to grow to 15'' wheels then you will have much more choice and use 6-7 inch wheels in front and 8'' in rear. I have 205/70/15 front and have 225/70/15 rear on 8'' rims but ran 255/60 before, all depends how tall a tire you want and don't forget...it will change your speedometer too.

I have 215/60r14's on my 64 and they fit fine. don't really want to go to a 70 series. but I can only find 2 tires out there in that size. BFGoodrich and some other one I have never heard of. get the tire size app for your phone it will help a lot in your decision.

That's what I did. Bought a pair of 15x7 Wheel Vintiques Rallys and some 255-60/15's for the rear.
