I am in the drag radial selection process now like many of you. Narrowed my selection down to MT ET Street S/S and Nitto 555R. I will not be taking this car to the track. Just "street driven". It's a mild build 440 automatic Duster with 3.23 SG. I live in Florida. Hot road surfaces but I will NOT be driving it in the rain.

My question is... How "sticky" will the ET S/S tire get with just spirited street action? I have read some reviews that lead me to believe they get sticky and pick up everything on the road. Some said the area on the quarter panel behind the tire gets sprayed with black rubber. Then others contradict this. So much conflicting info. I believe the Nitto would be less prone to any of this but I am looking for feedback on the MT here. Can I hear from folks actually using or have used the MT on the street... Thank you.

My MT 235/60 15's bite well on the street. I'm happy.

I've had both of these tires on my Dart in 275/60/15. Mickey Thompson's hook better than the nittos both street and strip. That being said, they last about 5,000 miles and the Nitto's will last much longer.

If it's purely street and you don't need to dead hook then go with the Nitto's.

Thanks, so zero issues with them getting sticky and picking up pebbles and small road debris from daily drives on hot days? No rubber spray getting up on lower rear quarter... ever?

yes, they will pick up pebbles. Never had a drag radial that didn't. Yes, you'll get some rubber spray on the quarters (but I did with a regular street radial too) at the strip

Let's say both lasted the same and, they both performed the same in the rain, and they both cost the same. I'm saying that because none of that matters to me. My concern is the MT getting noticeably sticky from a 30 mile drive on a dry hot day. Other than cruise nights and driving around town I often drive 30 miles to a car show and pull into a grass field. I dont want the tires to look like astro turf if you know what I mean. So do they get sticky enough to pick up stuff just driving them?

Thanks. Not worried about the strip. It's more of a show car that attracts people with something to prove on the street. I don't look for street races. One of my car show friends has a small block 1967 El Camino with Nitto 555R 275/60r-15. They don't pick up anything... even when it's 98F here in Florida. I know the Nitto's would work for me but wanted to consider the MTs if they didn't turn to fly paper just driving on a hot Florida road.

Cooper Cobra's after spirited driving. Lots in the wheel well.

I would expect to get some spray on my quarters if I spin my tires but if you notice all of my questions are regarding driving on a hot road none mention doing burnouts from light to light. If I did a burn out and I got spray on my quarter panel it would be expected and I'm fine with that. I don't want a tire that's so soft I end up with that situation from just driving "quickly" 30 miles or so to a location. Some people live in a cool climate and road surface temperatures are not a concern. Here in Florida the road surface gets hot! I'm talking 120 to a 130゚ hot. Don't even think of walking barefoot on blacktop during the day.

I think you posted about your tires in Florida before? You really seem to want The Best of Both Worlds as we all do.
Good luck...

I run the MT and drive 50 miles each way to the track. Once the PJ1 wears off the tires run like a normal tire. I drive easy on the street with them due to the expense of frequent replacement. If I were you I would run the Nitto, they last about 10K. I replace the MTs about every 6 months and race my car at least once per week and average 5 or 6 passes per trip. Show cars are not my thing but several coats of wax on the lower qtrs helps when it's time to clean.

I don't know about the radials, but the MT ET Streets I had on the back of my Valiant stuck like the dung who flung. Those things bite HARD. If the radials are anywhere near comparable, they are good.

They're an excellent tire for the track..but I do not run mine on the street they are way too sticky and pick up everything on the road dirt pebbles, cigarette butts ect...

this will be my method too, once I get another set of Aluminum Dish to mount regular radial tires on...

Many a time I've washed around my trophy rubber on the back fenders....
My personal favorite is when it's piled about 3in. deep a little homemade deflectors behind the fenders to keep from getting 8in. deep on the side of the car....
