Freds 73 Scamp restore on a budget

-
Hey there, Fred. Great progress in the Dart. The paint looks really nice. You got the underside very clean. That BP 408 should be a great engine. It comes with break-in run on dyno, doesn't it. Are you going to motor magic in Minot? We are planning to be there for drags.

Wow that's amazing. I wish I lived closer so I could've help out and maybe learn a little. Beautiful work.

Mostly trying to find one with a factory sun roof. Turned out to be a pain in my back side but still like it.

Holy smokes Fred she is really looking good. I sure hope mine turns out half that good. I have your seats set aside and just waiting to sort out delivery, whether I bring em to you or your boys swing by and grab them. Price is firm I ain't budging. Cold beer for me and a treat for Hemi!

Thanks John. Hoping to come over soon for the seats and spoil Hemi.

View attachment 1715381056 View attachment 1715381057 So that's today August 18th 2019 so things will slow down at this point. Is it done right so far? I can only say I been trying to do it somewhat right. Some will do far better some far worse. I would guess I am in the middle of half assed. lol

"Is it done right so far?"

Are you kidding? Are you happy with it? If so then it's DEFINITELY done right. As far as I'm concerned (and please don't let my or anyone else's opinion matter more than your own), you are doing a fantastic job, more 'full-assed' if that's the scale you're using. Keep it up and you'll be generating alot of jealousy in no time.

Left lower 1/4 was damaged and fixed back in the old lacquer paint days, so ground the bondo out and filled it all the holes and pulled it out as straight as I could witch turned out real good.

Left front fender was fixed and repainted as well as the left 1/4 panel all the rest of the car was original paint. Kinda suprised the left door didn't get damaged it still had the vin # in the door and was clean.

Front fenders are next I see some rust on one the other looks good but deciding if I want to delete the turn signals on top of the fenders or leave them. they are in good shape and both work just fine.

Keep em. That's just my opinion though. I always liked fender mounted turn signals. One of the things that made MoPars unique

One of my first memories, I was about 5, an uncle came to visit and he had a giant early 70's New Yorker, and I thought the coolest thing in the world was the fender mounted turn signals. Flash ahead 50 years and I was so pleased to find a car with them, I HAD to make them work.

I like the Lil red FABO Crew truck.
Ddaddy made the signs and a few guys helped pay for them and was a gift that will stay with the old 29 as long as I have it. I hope to be taking it to some car shows and meet up with some of you guys on this Forum so we can drive it around and and sit in the back and have a good time.
I know it's a Ford but fixed that.
