I am looking for a 70 A-Body Ralley Dash instrument plastic with no cut out parts or major cracks to be re-chromed. I know they reproduce these but when I ordered one from Classic Industries the quality was awful...PICTURES BELOW OF THERE AWFUL QUALITY CONTROL!!!! these are made in China. They want 624.00 plus shipping, I sent mine back...!!! So now looking for a good core piece...Pic below of what I am looking for. Let me know what you have. Thanks...

Nothing beats Ma MoPar original...the China made ones are crap....as well as other things they make for our MoPars. I looked for awhile and finally found a good 1970 340 bezel core...think it ran me $250? I bet it would be hard to find them that cheap now...good luck with your search, I’m sure someone here has one.

I have a 70 AC. I also bought a reproduced one. It did not fit that good. I could not get the top metal piece to fit because of the bumps were in the was and the whole slot for the metal top to fit. I ground the bumps off with a dremmel and cut the slot in carefully with a jig saw blade. It fit pretty good then. I am going to get another one for the Demon I need a 71 AC. or put the AC button holes in mine. I did that in the past and it worked good. There was no one rechroming them at that time.

What I did notice is the turn signal holes should have bee blacked out around the edges.

Also I scraped the tabs clean of the chrome that hold the bezels in and scratched them up. I held them in place tight one at a time and put drops of quick set JB weld on the tabs . They are held in tight. Do not try and melt them like the factory did. The melted part breaks off of the tab. Been there when they first came out. Mine I am using are older bezels I had laying here from years ago I never used . Back then they were $299. on Ebay. Now classic has taken the sale over , I don't know what the newer repops are like.

Whats wrong with the one pictured or isn't that the one you have?

You might need to lower your sights a little. Some damage can be repaired. Overlays remove the need of perfection. If you'll install the wood grain overlay, 68/9 bezel would work. Overlay covers where flasher switch provision is/was. Changing the climate controller type is doable also.
Invisible repairs or changes are possible. The backside of my custom rally bezel has reinforcement "scabs" over joins ( not pretty, blessed that factory design provided space for them in most areas ). Can't see my work on the face side.
Several years after all my effort in invisible mod, I have added DMT overlays there.
I have rally bezels here of every year/type and every one of them has some damage somewhere. Majority are all ready disassembled, chemically stripped, and ready for work. Let me know if I can help.

Hello 340man.
Question,
Where do you sent it to be "Re-chromed"?
If possible can you please proved the contact info (link to site or P/H number)?
Thanks in advance,
Happy Mopar :)

GCAR in Washington state will rechrome and repaint the bezel, and apply wood grain. Can polish lenses as an option. Prices are on the web page. Gauge rebuilding is another story, as mentioned. Usually, if they work, they work, so you don't necessarily have to go whole hog. A more likely issue is the circuit board and the pins coming off it. Often they get damaged in just removing the dash. Or if you have been having problems with dash lights or instrument flakiness, they may very well have their origin in these pins. So that is another repair project -- search the forums for threads on DIY, or PM me for a blow-by-blow description.

I converted my non ac dash to ac. Got an ac control panel piece from a trashed bezel. Cut out the control area on the dash & glued the ac part in. Put a wood grain decal from Detroit Muscle over it. Looks great. Can’t tell it was a hack job.
