Anyone Ever Deal With Gout

-
Yep you got it. My last bout was on top of my left foot. Was always the right toe for years but has moved and even to the elbow and knees.

Yeah it happened to me like that on one occasion as well.
Gout is a form of arthritis, complicated by the collection of uric acid crystals congregating in the joints usually the foot. Google it.
You need to put chemicals into your blood to dissolve the crystals, and simultaneously elevate your feet to allow the body to flush the crystals into your kidneys where they will form a concretion of the devil that will rip you assunder when they finally leave the kidneys heading for the bladder. Once there, they can tumble down the pipe and klink into the toilet; in my case painlessly, and one time I don't know when or if it finally abandoned me.The MRI showed 5 more of those evil bastards still in there; That was over a year ago, maybe over two, I can't recall. yeah, I guess two;see below .
And the arthritis I got rid of two years ago, as soon as I found a name for my affliction.
When you google it you will find ten foods to avoid and ten foods to overdose on, to help move the crystals.
But getting rid of the gout does not mean you got rid of arthritis.
Contrary to Google, it is possible to get rid of that evil arthritis. If you don't get rid of it, and if you let it, it will debilitate you, and possibly open yourself up to other types of attacks. Evil congregates to evil. I got rid of it without meds; indeed without the ten foods. Indeed without any dietary changes.

You have to understand the trigger for it. Mine seems to be any seafood followed by a long Trip in a vehicle. I almost never have an issue till a vacation trip that included both! Everyone has a different trigger. Learn that and treat it accordingly or take the precaution medicine when doing so.

After a huge fish diner at Dukes, they give a very good portion, when in Carlisle and a 600 mile trip home in the truck hauling the other fish, bam it hit within a day or so of getting home.

seafood eh; the kind without "fins and scales"? The bottom-feeding clean-up crew? that eat all the poisons we continuously dump into the seas? I gave up that kind of seafood in 1993.
You know, by intelligent design, our bodies disassemble nearly everything we eat, and reassemble some of the components into structural parts of our bodies. It doesn't do this perfectly however, and 70 or 80 years is our allotted lifespan. Sometimes our bodies get ahold of some renegade DNA and incorporates it into our structures, and that is trouble right then. There is only one natural way to get rid of that junk; cut it out. But this is not always successful.
There is however, a supernatural way........

Well there is nothing safe to eat anymore! I have always taken the stance that the more poison and dirt one may eat in smalls, builds up the resistance. It worked for 50 + years but failing now!

Sardines, liver anything high in puriens will trigger an attack. I've had this for 40 years.

I have a prescription for allopurinol which keeps it at bay. And indomethicin is a strong anti inflamatory.

I watch what kinds of food i eat. I can eat the bad food just in moderation. Au jus is a killer for me.

Eat salads and avoid red meat and shellfish.
Also our local grocery store sells a fruit cocktail with cherries in it. I normally have one for breakfast with a banana and a apple.
I have not had a bad flare up in a few years.
You can control it with diet.

Totally agree but sometimes you have to indulge!

You too.
You and me both. lol
My prescription is something named, Allopurinol, that i take the pill every morning.
And ya, my big toe, right foot, is bigger than the one on the left foot, due to the gout swelling.

My dog is on allopurinol... He's prone to urinary crystals... He's been on it for years now...

beans and gravy set mine off! vitiman C seems to help keep it away!! that and the above mentioned prescriptions i cant spell...lol

It aint easy to reveal just how big a hard headed idiot I am but here goes...
I didn't want to even consider my having the same disorder that my sister, mother, and every family member on mothers side had. After several years of denial, self diagnosis and self treating for Gout, the pain and suffering along with wifes nagging, "Go to a doctor!", got the better of me... I now take 4 different medications to treat rheumatoid arthritis and gout. Just 2 and half weeks in and I'm already doing much better. Good luck to all.

Well, I"m on my second flare up in two weeks. Doc gave me prednisone burst, Got rid of the gout, after taking the last pill, I started on the Allipurinol, 24 hours later, bang, gout is back with a vengeance. Went to work last yesterday and hobbled around on it for 8 hours.
When I got home and went to be, OMG, the worst pain yet. Got no sleep, was moaning and groaning all night. Just felt like my toe was in a vice, and every 10-15 seconds, someone would turn the screws a little tighter.
Reading about the allipurinol last night I see that one side effect is that it can cause an attack when you first start taking it. So dont know if that's the deal our not.
Got a call into the doc to see what the heck i'm suppose to do about it.

allipurinol can and most likely will cause a flare up when first starting out. the med starts to break down the uric acid in the body and it will migrate to the joints. after awhile the acid will lessen, and if taken as prescribed, will /should stop the attacks. allapurinol can be murder on the body in several ways, although many take it for years with out any side affects. i myself wont take it. when i start to get an attack, 1 or 2 endomethesyn ( spelling ?) pills will stop mine. and ya your right, i wouldn't wish gout on my worst enemy. lol. dave

That’s Indomethacin...and it is the front line medicine for treating gout attacks.

I worked on that drug for years in my pharmaceutical development profession.

It works.

Just home from the Doc. He thinks it came right back because I didnt wait a week between the prednisone and starting the Allipurinol. Guess you're suppose to wait till your gout is completely cleared up before starting on the Allipurinol.
So im on another prednisone burst to get me cleared up, then I'll wait a week or two and start the other. And he wants to start me at a lower dose and build up this time. I'm hoping we get this under control this time cause gout sucks. Mine for some reason gets especially bad at night when I go to bed. Got almost no sleep the last two nights.

For many years I have dealt with parts of my feet getting figity then swelling and then more painful then you could imagine. My blood work always comes back good on the uric acid, the last few times my calcium has been a little high. I found that pseudo-gout is caused by calcium in the bloodstream and the symptoms are the same as gout. Over the counter supplement is Tart Cherry, I took it for a week straight and the swelling and pain went away. I now take it when I feel a flair up coming and it helps a lot. Cutting back on the calcium reduces the frequency also but calcium is in a lot of foods.

I like the tart cherry and celery seed combo supplement. Also tossing in MSM and white willow. Thanks for the calcium mention. Have to look at blood work and see what number that's at.
