During 1965 model year there was a change in the explanation on the fendertag. On early 1965 cars there was PNT on the fendertag aboce the paint code. On later cars there was PAINT instead.

Enclosed is pictures showing early and late style. I need pictures of fendertags from October to early November to find out when this change was made.

First fendertag is from a 65 Valiant and is assembled October 21st and has the PNT letters.

Next fendertag is from a 1965 Barracuda and that car is assembled October 28 and has the PAINT letters.

Does anyone here on FABO has a car assembled between these dates it would be great to find out when Chrysler made the switch.

Thanks FABO!

Do you think this change was made at all plants at the same time?

It may be a plant difference as mentioned.

Also for these cars, there is no way to know if the car was actually even started on the fender tag date let alone when the car was actually finished.

Not sure! I have looked at fendertags from cars assembled at Hamtramck, St Louis and Los Angeles. It seems like all of them made the change in late October of 1964.

I agree with you but even if there was some errors or delays in production there must somehow be a day when they made the switch from PNT to PAINT.
It might be possible the assembly line one made the change earlier assembly line two. And of cause differences between the plants.

A fender tag would have to be made at some point before paint. So it would have been pretty close to the start of the assy process unless it was made long before the assy process

The cars order came first.

The SPD was assigned when the order came in & was processed, well before the fender tag was stamped.

No need to feel sorry.

SPD - Scheduled Production Date.

It was assigned as mentioned previously, but actual production could vary for multiple reasons, early or late, sometimes by over a month.
