Stop in for a drink.

I think every farmer to my west must have the plow in the ground today. It's a dusty mother out there the 25mph gusts are not helping. Either that or Mother Nature is trying to replenish the sand dunes just to my east and moving mass quantities of beach sand :realcrazy:. Remind me to send the old girl a note that they covered those dunes with high density housing. Talk about unstable soil for building :realcrazy:.

Sounds like you got the same problem as me all farm land in this state and all the farmers are plowing all at the same time and covers my car in dirt.

Crab feast for the wife tonight!

I am allergic to shellfish so I can’t eat them...but I do enjoy catching them.

My wife loves eating them, but doesn’t care so much for catching them...so it’s a win-win!

Those are softshell correct? Never had them but I can crack a huge pike of snow or king crab legs

Not soft shell, regular blue claw crabs. Soft shell crabs are the ones that have just molted and the new shell hasn’t hardened up yet (same kind of crab though).

These are green backs with red, blue and white claws until cooked, then they turn bright orange.

Here they are before they are cooked...

Oh yeah, and the whole “severance” thing from my previous employer got even crazier.

I got an email from the CFO today saying that they screwed up on my severance amounts and needed to adjust it. They apparently miscalculated my years of service. I figured they were going to try to yank back a bunch of the money.

Nope.

Turns out they increased everything by 1/3 and apologized for making the mistake of short-changing me!

WTH?

OK...I accept the apology! LOL!

He should receive an anonymous bottle of 12 yr old distilled beverage in the mail for such a thoughtless mistake

Cool and rainy all day today. I only caught a couple of fish before the rains set in and the temps dropped into the upper 60s. Then to add to the joy of being rained out, I spent all afternoon on conference calls with senior staff and corporate attorneys.

By 5 pm, I was done with the work calls and gave up on the fishing since it was still raining...and started drinking beer.

By 8 pm, the rains ended as the front moved through and we were rewarded with a nice sunset...

Nice sunset thanks for sharing good time to sit back with a drink and watch the view.

My daughter has been home since she was in a car accident mid June. Today was the first day she was allowed to drive .. First place she went was the liquor store. Got a bottle of Buffalo Trace and everything to make an old fashioned. We are on our second round...

Nothing better than spending quality time with or kids.

It was clear and cooler today on the Island, the high was only 76. Temps dropped rapidly under clear skies at sunset, it is only 68 now. Very unusual for late August. At least the pool is heated and still at 91.

I had to drive back home today to collect paperwork for my severance that was mailed to my home. 5 hours of driving round trip, but at least I got in a couple of hours of fishing when I got back. A half dozen crabs and 4 snapper bluefish.

Pretty end to the day day too...especially after relaxing with a couple of beers.

I wanna go with you there next year looks nice.
You would love it here...and I would love having you here fishing with me!

It’s my only vacation of the year and I try to totally escape into reconnecting with the sea and the rhythm of life it has. Here, the rhythm has remained constant over the 45 years I have been coming to this place...and it reminds me of how insignificant I am compared to all of the rest of the life on the planet I happen to live on.

Saturday night my world ... 52 hr work week, 5 mile run around the lake on Sat morning, Bloody Mary brunch an some home maintenance to end the night with dominos and popcorn. Some nitro milk stout

I fished the ocean on the Pacific for a few years and you sure hit that on the nail. We are just a small part in this world and when I spent a few years out at sea I realized that same thing.

I use to hike in the mountains on the wet coast but I don't think I could even do much of that anymore. You would have to carry me after the first 1/4 mile. lol
