Holley's science vs Edelbrock simplicity?

Is it me or is anybody else seeing a theme here where the Holley users are very very defensive about their carburetors and most Edelbrock guys have used holleys and could go either way but prefer a simple Edelbrock??...

I’d be the latter end carb user. While I lack experience on the upper level Holley carbs, the Edelbrock units are pretty damn good for the street and street strip engines I’m mostly in.

I think the big rift between the two brand’s mostly end with user skill or preference, the biggest follies occur when people rip others for not making the Holley choice for what they see as not maximizing there HP potential. Which in itself is a joke. Why? you ask!

There is no such thing. No matter the choice you make for YOUR build, there is always some clown to rip your choice up with the words, “But you could have made more power by.....” and the internet zero now stands in front of you spilling his wisdom of what makes more power over what you chose and why your stupid in choosing that part, no matter the part.

The thing with the Carter/Edelbrock carb is there street carbs, AKA OE based designs with minor enhancements. To compare this design against a race design is stupid. And so is putting a high dollar race carb on your street bound machine. But if that’s your choice, I’ll not rip you on it.

The Carter design has its short comings for big power just like a Holley can.

WHAT?!?! Did he just say that?!?!

Yes and wonder for a second why?

When your comparing the same duty designed carbs, this will only include the Holley’s that cake stock on mass production vehicles. So is a 3310 really suited for strip duty on a 500 inch pro stock mill?

No, that’s where the race carb comes in. Enter the well suited race Holley. Where tuning a one can be a bear to the new guy.

The speedtalk thread on the. After/Edelbrock short comings and oddities has been known for a long time but not really written about or investigated much because at the level of performance sought, it should be a Holley on top. Not many people are willing to experiment with a carb that is labeled (and believed to be) as inferior. Even more so when the other carb is tried and true with decades of experimentation and alteration/customization parts available.
