A Body WAGONS-Ho! A body Wagon Thread

Good looking wagon! Here is my 64

Is that the wagon that was recently for sale in California? Either way I love it.
I don't have a current picture of my wagon the post here cuz I haven't seen it in a year and a half.
It looked like the pic below the last time I saw it.

A nice touch that I saw on my 65 CHrysler was that they filled in the seams where the C pillar blended into the rear fenders , just ahead of the trunk. So I did some seam filling on my wagon. I just used plastic filler, but was careful to bevel down the metal (about 1-2 mm) running along the seams on each side of the seam, so that the filler covered about a I inch spread across the seam (OK, 25.4 mm). That way, the filler will be less apt to just crack in the seam. Some decent before pictures would help, if you care to chime in.

The optional backup lights were a $26 option that year. According to the inflation calculator I used, that's $211 today. I question that.
I suppose backing up was an option many years before that!

Real nice job !

Hey, it's Wagon Wednesday!
Well, seeing as it's Wagon Wednesday here are a few photos that I took on the trip I just returned from last night in my 65 Valiant wagon to Northern New York where I have a cabin out in the woods . I'm taking it up there 3 times this season before I put her down and do the body. Even with all the rust I get people wanting to talk with me about it everywhere I go . It's a people magnet !

Yes, these A-Body Stations are real people magnets:

Everywhere I go people want to take pictures...

and even in company with some muscle cars, people cheer more for the Valiant:

I don't have a Wagon but I have a Wagon related question that I have always wondered... Why did the 63-66 wagons get the more open, round rear wheel arches but everything else here in North America (4dr, 2dr, convertible and even the Barracuda) did not?
Great question. I am a Valiant fan, and Always liked how the wagons had them. Wish the car did.

Nice job on the seam filling .

BTW backing up was only aloud during daylight hours unless you had back up lights :)

Would anyone happen to have a tailgate for a 64 Dart Wagon?

I’ve got an empty one (it’s a 63 or 64 can’t remember) that used to be the power window type but as with 95% of them has rust issues. After I swap out my current gate for a mostly rust-free one I found at the Pic ‘n’ Pull, it’ll be available. It’s a manual window and has the 95% aforementioned rust issues

My gate is pretty rusty, its usable but rusty. Looking for a unicorn..the rust free, for the most part, tailgate..

Good luck on finding that unicorn! The 63 or 64 tailgate come from CA and looked to be rust free. Started stripping paint and dug out at least a half inch of bondo at the bottom.

You can put me on the list for that tail gate . I need one for my wagon . I can replace metal ,I'm pretty good with that being from the north east sort of makes one that way.

I saved the one which might be a 63 or 64 and can take some pics tomorrow if you're interested as the rust-damaged one on my wagon wobn't be coming off for probably 6 months. It's just a shell and used to be a power window tailgate.

It appears I have found the unicorns of tailgates!
