Here's what I have to work with. 65 GT originally a S6, guess a 3 or 4 speed on the floor (has the hump), manual steering and brakes, looks like a disk conversion on the front and dual MC, hideous install, guess it will do for now. now has a 79 360, Eddy performer and Carter Comp series carb, sounds like a stock motor, dual exhaust all the way out back, 4 speed with a Hurst shifter, and 7 1/4 rear end, I have no history on the car, bought from a dealer out of state, title says CA, bought from TX.
Glass is all good with no fogging even around the edges, real nice headliner in black, carpet is good, but faded, rear package tray is an abomination of white faux fur???????, musta been on an acid trip bout then, bucket seats in pretty good condition for original. motor starts right up, idles good, no smoke or strange noises. body doesn't show any signs of rust, but the cracking paint has me wondering what's under there!
14 inch rims and blackwalls in ok condition and hold air.

Things I have acquired so far:
1. new package tray
2. dash cap for the dash pad
3. wheel lip molding for the right rear
4. Commando air breather and valve covers
5. larger 7 blade HD Mopar fan

Anywho, here's a few pics, as You can see, I have the steering column out for a rebuild and repaint, ripped the door panels off because they had installed door speakers and were falling apart, stripped the dash and ripped out the heater box to install a vintage air unit.

Very nice. sgrip65

Nice! Must have been a Chevy guy who did the work with the black engine compartment!

Ya know, I was dusting the motor off today and piddlin', I thought the same thing! :) The only black engine bays should be on black cars, IMHO. It's like looking into the black hole of Calcutta, or my ex's heart, samo-samo.

Hope it is paint....not that evil black undercoating. sgrip65

It's paint, just to much for me to deal with and try to change, limited space/time/budget, gotta run now Mr. Grip, gotta get some lotto tics so I can make You an incredible offer on that stunning Dart Ya dun put together, Your a man of many talents, hats off to Ya.

Cool car! Where bouts in Georgia are you again?

Got the instrument panel yesterday, repainted the gauge and speedo hands and dry fitted the gauge cluster into the new panel, tomorrow I'll start on the Steering column, the bottom of the tube was so banged and out of round that the seal wouldn't fit, I had to take it to a muffler shop to have it put on the expander machine, dry fitted the seal on the bottom and it's good to go.

Nicely done! Amazing what some florescent orange can do for those gauge needles.

As they say "let the journey begin", and I know what ya'll be thinkin', if He's this OCD, he'll never ever live long enough to drive it anyway ! :)

As Bob Barker used to say, "come'on down", course Rusty's livin', LOL "downtown" if there is sucha thing in Cornfield County, since they foreclosed on his 3/8 bedroom Teepee !

Well Gumby (the dude with two club hands) is gonna replace the upper bearing in the steering column while it's out, and it's out because when the car got here it had 1/2 round of play in the steering wheel!
The 1/2 round of play will occur if there are no shoes, spring, seal, and retainer in the steering coupler, just the cross pin. I ordered and received the rebuild kit and a lower seal for the tube. So the upper bearing is rough, I'll replace it, no, it's dry, i'll just clean and repack it, the rubber isolator is fine, so I'm thinking, maybe i'll take the tube and collar and have it powder coated at a place down the street, so i fiddle with the lower connector and I can't get those pins out to save my ***, I'm pulling on the wires and T/S switch to get some slack and, oops, pull the top off the switch. Well Hell!, now I need a switch cause when it came apart one of the contacts flew to another planet in some other solar system, I guess.
Make note of the odometer on this car, I guarantee Ya in ten or twenty years, after I'm long gone, this car will pop up here with the same mileage, some cars just love being home and not driven!

If you need a turn signal switch that was made by the OEM, contact @slantsixdan He had a bunch of them made up for the early A’s. I’ve bought 3 of them and they are spot on. I can highly recommend them and Dan’s service. Hopefully he’ll have some left.

Thanks, already talked to him, just need to figure out the payment thingy, it'll happen today, thanks again for the info.

Beautiful car. Love me some 65’s. I own 2 lol. I wish my driver was a 4 speed. Maybe one day it will become one lol.

Well ol' Gumby got most of the cracks in the steering wheel taken care of and got it painted, ain't perfect but then again I ain't building an "Ulf car". I have several choices of horn ring and center emblems to choose from, I know the 64 emblems aren't correct for this car, but I really do likes them!

Removed the dash pad, never had so much fun (not). I have a dash cap to install over the pad, couple of cracks in the pad, but this is the time to do it if it's gonna get done.
Please read and it may save someone the same sorta grief I ran into. After removing the pad I test fit the cap over it, I was very surprised at the good fit it had. I was prepping the pad and cap, getting the clamps ready, scuffing the pad and cap, on the inside of the cap there was a mfg sticker that was close to the gluing edge of the cap, it wouldn't peel of, of course that would be to easy, so I get some rubbing alcohol to loosen the glue on the sticker, I finally get it off and when I turn the cap over there's a dull white residue on the topside of the cap, but none on the inside where i was using the alcohol. I have tried washing it in hot soapy water, no joy, wiped Armor All on it, no joy, even tried white vinegar, nope, ain't coming off.
Called the place where I bought it, uh, just leave the sticker on it, hello! to late, that's why I'm calling, ever heard of this happening, is there a solution?, "uh, just spray some black paint over the spot", CLICK, that was the sound of Me ending your session of I don't give shititis !
I would never imagined this cap would be so vulnerable to mild solvents, I'm not talking about acetone or lacquer thinner, I mean rubbing alcohol, come on, it's even in glass cleaner.
So, please be careful when using these dash caps, do NOT have any type of solvents around, that's all I can say. I found some black bumper and trim spray I'm gonna try, nothing to loose, already out 115.00 bucks, I'll put the cap on and install it, but I won't reinstall all the dash stuff till I see what's gonna happen with the spray. I will say, it is a great fit on the pad !
