Good little video from Melling about oil pump priming
Let me tell you what I do...I've built all my engines using a mixture of white lithium grease and STP, applied to my main and rod bearing inserts and cam bearings, push rod tips, rocker arms and shafts and piston pins. I use a mixture of black moly and STP on my cam lobes and lifters. Oil only on the pistons, rings and cylinders. I also "set the grain" of my bearing inserts with Scotch-Brite. I use a pressure pot to pre-oil my engines. After a few break in runs, I drain the oil, remove and cut the filter. New oil, new filter...Go! As said in an earlier post...Don't let it sit! Get it running ASAP. I've had very good success. Now! I'm open to opinions. :)
