This things forecast to be a strong storm. It' s scaring me a bit. They're not sure where its gonna hit yet, but best of luck and prayers to all in the danger zone. Send prayers down south.

Kinda like winter up here I would guess, blizzards and -40* we see it coming and just a good time not to be stupid. These are just a major inconvenience to most of us if you use common sense and get off the coast you might loose your power/phone/internet for a few days. Better than places like California and earthquakes with no warning at all. We have had at least a weeks warning at this point. We will see you all on the other side. Also the gulf coast needs to be on guard for after this crosses Florida.

Never been in a hurricane so I have know idea. We get some nasty storms up here and sometimes not often but soft ball size hail and tornadoes but not an all day problem like a hurricane.Daughter lives in Sarasota and are already water logged from all the rain this summer. In laws 85 live in Punta Gorda and are stubborn as hell. Said they are only going to put up shutters on their big windows. Unreal. My fear is with that strong of a storm it will redevelope in the Gulf. Lived in Fl for 15 years and experienced several hurricanes. Went out side and stood in the eye of Charlie.
Charlie was 140 mph sustained winds. The next day we went out side and color was sucked out of everything. It was like a black and white photo. We had a pontoon boat in our back yard and the 20k sq. ft. of pavers for my driveway that had been delivered the month before were pretty much gone. Our house had just been completed so it was to new code and survived pretty well. Neighbors not so much.Never been in a hurricane so I have know idea. I'm surprised the house stood up with that kinda wind but real sorry for your loss.Charlie was 140 mph sustained winds. The next day we went out side and color was sucked out of everything. One of the big changes in the code was to fasten the roof trusses better to the structure along with the improved windows so the 'Envelope' is not breached. When that happens all hell breaks loose.I'm surprised the house stood up with that kinda wind but real sorry for your loss.
I would guess a window breaking loose would help in making the roof come off.One of the big changes in the code was to fasten the roof trusses better to the structure along with the improved windows so the 'Envelope' is not breached. When that happens all hell breaks loose.
Baton down the hatches.Looks like we're gonna be on it's bad side, or so they say. I don't think a hurricane has a good side. Maybe it'll just go away.
Baton down the hatches.
take care my friend. Best to over prepareRight now, me and my house are right in the path for Tuesday 7am with the eye of the hurricane being right overhead. Hopefully it dies out before it can do any harm.

Hope they do good neighbors are hard to find and sure would hate to loose yours.Got a trailer in Palm Bay right in the path tied down to a cement slab under the whole trailer, property is good to 120 mph winds, more than that I will be going down there to clear off the lot.
The last one was heading right for us, last minute it took a slight jog and went by us 50 miles off shore. That was way way too close.
Fortunately the property is all battened down now, no one there and all closed up.
I am in Minnesota now with my Florida neighbors keeping me posted. Hopefully they get out of there.
