Is there a way to tell if a car came with a factory tach? I've looked on my build sheet and do not see where the option would be. I have the rallye dash in my '70 Duster 340. If a car came with the rallye dash, does that mean it had the tach? I've seen pictures of other rallye dashes where the tach section is empty. Thank you.

No, You could get a psychedelic device instead:

there is a performance indicator (vacuum gauge) and a clock option for that center pod also.
Tachometer seemed to be more common to manual trans builds.

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately, my factory 340 4~speed did not come with a tach.
Where on the firewall would the wires go through for a tach?

How do I tell if mine had a clock or vacuum gauge? Someone stuck an aftermarket tach where the center pod is.

Although they would fit, I believe the last year for the clock or vacuum gauge was ‘69 but I could be mistaken. The tach wire goes through a separate grommet on the firewall, into a connector and to the distributor. Check out Hamtramck historical on the internet for details about the options available on your car

There is usually a dimple in the firewall to the passenger side of the master cylinder where the wire went through. The dimples were stamped in the firewall metal and then drilled out as needed for the tach cars. Here's a couple pics on a B body.

Let me add that the connecting wire is gray.
