I guess it was bound to happen at some point. Not sure if it happened in my driveway or in town the night before, but it happened. Went out to out our 08 srt8 to go to church on Sunday morning and saw this horrendous scratch down the driver side of the car. A small scratch on the front fender then one the entire length of the car from the front door edge all the over the handle and to the rear bumper. Someone took a key, knife or something and scratched the entire side. Several small scratches on the lower quarter. Wasnt there the earlier day before as I washed and waxed it, went to dinner and a late night church function in town. Could have been thers after that, but it was dark so cant say. Possibly the crackheads next door. Not sure. Body shop said $2500+. Thankfully have insurance, but why do people have to be so disrespectful.

That’s the other reason why I stay away from churches.

That's not disrespectful. That's downright malicious. What else might they do next time?

It boils down to jealousy. Jealous of the fact you work hard and can afford nice stuff.
Jealous of the fact they chose a path that turned them into **** .
A bullet to their forehead is the remedy, if only contributing members of society would come to realization of the much needed remedy.
Sorry for being brutal, but I have no use for people destroying my property or others.

Food for thought
You pissed someone off, and they took it out on your car bad.
Nasty

Yeah, as much as I want to blame the crackheads and their buddies I just don't know if they are actually crazy enough to do that. They know I would be likely to blame them. The state fair is in town full swing and lots of extra people and punk kids hanging out in that area of town by the church, so it could easily have been just a malicious act by a passerby. Going to get a ring doorbell camera for the driveway for sure now. Plus park behind our gate. Of course the car will be going into the shop for the next 8 months of rain and winter weather by the time it gets out of the body shop. And back to driving the economy car. I'm just glad they didn't do the same thing to the other cars if it happened in the driveway. As my sons 71 valiant, sti wagon, my truck and my brother in laws new jeep are all parked out front too.

If I pissed someone off to do it, not sure when or where. But that said, it doesn't take much nowadays to get someone mad about something. Though my sons have taken it out cruising around late at night not the night in question, so its possible that one of them made someone mad and I got the punishment for it. Plus theres like 3 other identical cars in town, lol, maybe I got their just deserts. Though I am not perfect, I could have made someone mad. Theres also been an increase in car thefts, property damage and gang shootings heavily in my part of town. Like 7 shootings, with 4 deaths. I will probably never know who or why beyond just my speculations. Just sucks.

People are just assholes sometimes. I had bought a brand new Mustang GT convertible in 1985, six weeks after I bought it, some douchebag punk slashed a 14 inch cut in the convertible top. The car wasn't even locked, just someone wanting to be a prick.

Sucks! Get some kind of camera that can give as close to 360* as possible? Hope your rates dont go up.

That's a real problem, first you are a victim then you pay for insurance increase and you are a victim again.

I think it's not going to affect my insurance as its claimed on comp and not collision. At least that's my understanding of it.

45, in talking with a couple buddies who in the past have had claims similar from vandilazation they said it didn't affect their rates. Maybe its dependent upon the company or policy that determines if or how much of an increase. I've never had to claim anything like this before. Sure accidents or speeding tickets.

If you have a really clean record it might be fine but this is what my insurance co. told me. about my custom motorcycle. If the frame breaks we have to know who made it so we can sue them for the damages that we have to pay out. So the insurance co. make money no mater what, period.

fishmens67 hit the nail on the head. Something needs to be done to these morons that will show them what will happen when they get caught doing what shouldn't be done.

Jeff

That sucks. Some people are just A$$HOLES. If your going to get a Ring Door bell get the Ring 2. It has a lot better picture and the night camera is great as well. Love mine

insurance is nothing more than betting against yourself. My feeling is that carrying anything other than liability is a scam .If you calculate what you will spend over your lifetime on all that other non essential insurance like collision and such as opposed to what it will cost you to just pay for things when they get screwed up you are probably spending way more on insurance than cost of repair

$5000 fine up here for driving with no insurance. Have to prove coverage when plates are renewed every year.
I agree it's a scam but it's a necessity unfortunately.
Some companies up here have "forgiveness" for 1st claim(or2) if claims free for a while.

All of that is not cool at all.
The way it sounds you may want to consider moving to another area.
If I dont like the party I am the first one out the door.
Life is to short to live in a nasty place
Good luck

My wife and I have been having serious thoughts about selling our home and moving way further out. Downsizing on the size of the house and upsizing the property size for raising more cattle. As long as the place has a shop at least the size of my current one.

Maybe a ring doorbell camera is not enough. My neighbor had one and it didn’t face the street. A package was taken from his doorstep. He went to Costco and got a 6 camera system.

It wont affect your rates. I was a body man now im an insurance adjuster. claims fall into 2 categories. chargeable and non chargeable. Vandalism and theft r both non chargeable offenses.
