Blinker Trouble

I am having a problem with my '70 Duster. When the lights are off both blinkers work. When the lights are on the right side blinker will illuminate but not blink. The left side will blink normal, as far as I can tell, not sure what is considered normal on this car. Any ideas on what is causing this? Thank you. Wife of DustyEd
 
IIRC everything goes through the light switch, remove and clean the contacts?
 
I would check both bulbs on the right side first, if good move to checking grounds.
 
Try changing the blinker fluid. The viscosity breaks down over time and causes all kinds of issues.

Or check your grounds and make sure no bulbs are bad.
"normal" flash rate is about the same as any new car is. There might be a standard they have to follow on that. However, grounds can affect the blink rate and some flashers can make them flash fast or slower than normal. The HD flashers are made for when your using a trailer. They consider the extra load the other lights put on the system.
 
All ground has been cleaned up and it is still acting up. He wants to clean up the light switch next. Can someone tell me how to remove it before he tries and breaks something in my car? Thank you. Wife (again)
 
Take a good look at the light sockets,clean and inspect them. Some times the bulbs are not installed all the way in correctly or jammed due to a corroded socket. Make SURE the socket is grounded to the chassis (clean up and use dielectric grease)
 
I bet you're low on this. That'll do it every time.

Did you closely inspect the bulbs. Hold them up to light and look at the element. I have had them break and crossover to the other element.
 
He removed the headlight switch and found quite a bit of corrosion/rust on one of the terminals. Cleaned it up, re-installed and everything works now! Thank you for all the advice. Mopar people are the best :)
