im sure this thread has been created before but I couldn’t find it. I have a 69 Dart with stock spring location. I’m putting a Ford 9 inch built rear end in my car and I want to move my rear springs inward. Is there a kit that does this? Is there anything I should be worrying about when it comes to the narrower suspension? All the work is going to be done professionally when it comes time. As you can see from the photo with the original rear end, I have a fitment issue and these are the wheels I will be running.

Houston we have a problem. Yes the springs can be moved inboard. Time & money is all it takes.

I'd look at US Car Tool. Thet have a great set up. That's where I'm heading.

I like to leave the outer part of the frame and box the inside of the frame and plug weld it. Plus it looks like the frame was never cut. . This gives you the most spring room.

When I did mine, I used the original front spring perches for locating my fab'd up ones.

Worked out great.

This is actually how I did my also. but its now I would do it again.

I'd do it the same way again too. The cross bar holds the front boxes exactly where they need to be. I installed sliders on the rear, and that sure was easy too.

Don't forget you probably are gonna have to do a mini tub along with the spring locate.I used us cartool and it worked out good for me.

When mini tubbing you're able to get that tub right tight against the frame rail. For maximum room it's best to get the front spring box flush with the frame on the outside. It does make a difference.

Check it out. This is on my 64. As you can see, the spring box would be the first thing to get into the tire sidewall.

It's not a big deal in my case, as the spring box is no longer used and can be trimmed back. But installing it flush on the outside to start with would have given additional room in my case.
Box is already marked, will get a trim one of these days.

I don’t think ill need to mini tub due to only running a 10 inch rear wheel and tire. I’m looking more to autocross and canyon run this car rather than drag race it.

I looked at car tool and that looks like the company ill be buying from. I think ill buy the chassis reinforcement kit level 2 so I get the torque boxes as well!

see ya on mulholland :D... did that shift cable work out for you?

It might be different on my duster, but my springs are relocated. Without a mini-tub it wont get you any more than running offset hangers since you will still run into the factory wheel tub before a relocated spring. Unless you plan on jacking the rear way up.

I should be more than okay with the wheel tubs as they are as my wheel is only a 10” and I don’t plan on running anything wider for now. But I know if I wanted to go larger I would have to mini tub

I can only speak from experience that an 18x10 with 6.5 bs with a 285/35 still kisses the tub when cornering if you plan on the back being low. And I think the general consensus is the dusters have the most generous factory wheel tub. If memory serves, the hemi darts came with offset hangers and people crammed a 15x10 in there, but I think they were on SS springs and not worried about turning sharply much.
