I am confused on something and hopefully you all can help. I have seen it listed that I will need and that I wont need a spacer.
A couple sites show using the adapter and spacer when bolting a 518 to the back of a Hemi like the one listed first in my pictures.
Then some say I only need to run the flywheel adapter like pictured in the 2nd picture.
I am hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.
And I should be able to used any shifter that will allow for 4 speed detents if I run a manual valve body? right?
Thanks for help.

I can say without a doubt, if running a 3 spd auto(727-904), you only need the ATI flexplate. The 518 is just an overdrive 727. I have not measured converter/crankshaft offset between 727 and the 518.

A500 and A518 are 3 speeds the OD and LU are controlled by pressure and solenoids. I'd recommend a hgm controller. Any old shifter will work.

Depends on what year your 518 is whether you need that controller or not.

So I borrowed a damper puller from OReillys....did not work.

So I bought one on Amazon..
Same puller same result even though the seller specifically said it would.

BUT...

I can do a bit of grinding on the puller arms to clearance them and it should work.

Also cut apart the orange cannisters of death...despite the sludge on the inlet side it was pretty much sludge and metal free on the outlet side.

Bouchillon has a new style dished adapter that does not have the spacer. I just got one and can take a pick when i get home.
