What are you doing with your old magazines?

-

Ya gotta know when to wash 'em and when to toss 'em....

Oh wait, we're talking about magazines....

I actually bought a spinning all metal magazine rack from a closing Movie Gallery for $10. Holds almost all of my magazines and just takes up a corner. I cant get rid of mine though. At $5 dollars a pop I feel like I would be throwing away thousands of dollars. Lol

Mopar Action stays with me. The tech is irreplaceable.

The rest: Box 'em, attic, wait, profit. When the electric self-driving self-grocery-grabbing nothing-but-a-moving-place-to-screw-while-driving-home-from-a-date car thing starts hitting 10-15 years old, people will get very nostalgic for the bad old days.

Watch Demolition Man, get back to me.

A lot of my Mopar Action went in the goodie bags we handed out at our mini nats car show last Saturday.... I take my Hot Rod and motorcycle mags to the senior living centers close to me.. I like to think some old-timer might enjoy them...lol... I am 67

We should share (& sometimes correct or improve) the articles on this forum.

The older articles are more accurate, New mopar muscle has misinformation from their new staff about things like the crankshaft main size {being the same} between 318’s and 360’s.

I just bought the 1968 dodge service manual for charger, coronet, and dart and will do share that here soon.

Three issues fit in a gallon sized zip lock bag.

I have all of mine zip locked and in a file cabinet.

File cabinets are cheap when you find them at flea markets and they don't take up much space.
The company that my Wife works for downsized their local office in 2011 and were giving all sorts of stuff away. I hauled 85 file cabinets back here and gave away 70 of them.

Does anybody collect "Dodge News Magazines"? They started in 1935 and AFAIK ended in early 1972, printed monthly and distributed by dealerships. I have an extensive collection of those sorted in binders by year. The other regular monthly mags you've all been talking about (MM, MA, MCG, etc.) I have tons of also but don't value them like I do the Dodge News mags. Maybe they aren't worth anything either?

I had all of mine stored in an extra closet in my living room, used to read them alot before the internet.
One year the tub drain, directly above the closet leaked and ruined them, out to the trash bin they went.

I haven't got rid of mopar mags. But gave 2 years of Car &Driver to college auto tech classes. Hopefully it will spark some car interest.

I had a crazy aunt who collected magazines. She was going to read them later. She had tens of thousands of them. Whole bedroom stacked high with them. Furniture in every room pulled away from the walls with magazines stacked behind it.

Never have saved any magazines since that.

So, if you are just a little bit of a collector, the sky is the limit......

What Am I do with them.... Driving the wife nuts!

People that hoard stuff, the ones that are NOT delusional, often find that they feel better once their stuff is cleared out.
In 2013, a car club member decided to clear out years of Early Valiant and 71 Road Runner parts. I brought it back here along with a '65 Barracuda, a 75 Power Wagon, a 65 Valiant convertible and a 65 Valiant Signet. Ever check prices on those "One year only" 71 Road RunnerFenders? $$$$.
He felt good because his back yard was clear again. I felt good because I had made a deal to paint his Convertible in exchange for those parts and cars. Later, it was discovered that he misunderstood the deal....He thought I offered to do ALL OF THE WORK on the car....Suspension-brakes-steering-exhaust=fuel system-assembly-convertible top....everything.
No, that was not the deal.
I ended up cutting him a check for $5000. I made out in the end though.
The Barracuda sold on ebay for $5000 after I spent about $1000 on misc parts and the repaint.
I made about $6300 on the parts and still have some of them. I still have the Power Wagon!
