I have a valiant wagon with the power rear window. The previous owner claimed the window motor works and left some wires dangling behind the rear bumper to connect a battery and roll the window down. When I tried it, it does not move or even budge.

So my question is, is there an override or way I can get the window up or down without the assist from the motor ??

Yes I have one of those problems to with a power tailgate window. First of all, don't believe everything the seller tells you. Secondly, clean the tracks and lubricate everything. Thirdly, does the motor make any sound when you hook power up to it? Did you remove the big access panel on the inside of the tailgate yet? If not, remove that panel and clean everything, lubricated, and if you have to, separate the motor from the rest of it. You might have to send the motor out to get repaired or rebuilt if it doesn't move.

Some motors have a positive wire for motion one way & another positive wire for motion the other way.

Did you power up both wires or one at a time or ?

I have no experience with power window motors, but some with headlight door motors.

Same as a power window motor. Two wires. Reverse for other direction. Perhaps a knock on the motor will get it turning. Not a hammer, but maybe a hammer handle.
Just a short anecdote, i used a rear power window assembly from a dodge wagon to run the back window in my 77 jimmy. Worked slick. So if your motor has bit the dust, can always fabricate another into its place.

As much as I like getting rid of options and running as basic as i can.....

I can't help but want the power rear window after seeing the original ad for the car.

This lady looks so happy and stylish, gee I want to be happy and stylish like her. So I think I need the power window, heck she could be me that happy.....defitnitly need the power window.

When I first connected power when i first got the car in January of 17, it made a clunk. Then I let go and tried it again. Never made any noise or any attempt after that. Tried it again now in 19, nothing...... totally dead

It is very possible I am not connecting it to the power source correctly.

I was hoping it would have been like a 70 fury headlight door motor with a manual override knob.

Here is a 63 wiring schematic maybe this will help. Looks like there is a limit switch for the window.
