Got me once in the arm today when I was wrangling up leaves with the leaf blower. They weren't happy and let me know before I could escape. So I gave them 5 gallons of water with dishwasher liquid and laundry detergent. Dang if they still didn't get me two more times in the neck. I didn't realize they could see at night but, apparently they can. If that doesn't kill them, I'll see how much they like gasoline. Ouch!

Only one good way to deal with them...

Water? Detergent? The only way to deal with them is DEATH.

This is the time of year when they are booted out of the nest and they search for food...thats why they like your soda cans.

I have a nest in my shop wall near the service door. A few friends got nailed this week but insist that spraying my aerosol killer wont work....yeah right. Not much action in the old nest now!

They are warm blooded, so you want to 'attack' late at night after the sun goes down, or early morning when the sun is coming up... They can't move very well when it's cold...

A can of Raid wasp and hornet killer kills them instantly on contact...

If the nest is in a hole in the ground, take a broken tree branch or stick about 5 or 6 feet long....and ease up on the nest and lay the far end of the stick right at the hole. Go back in the middle of the night with a plastic bottle full of gasoline. Stick the open end down in the hole and walk away. Bees will die in their sleep. The stick is so you can find the hole quickly with a flashlight. Bess will wake up when they start seeing light. That's how I do it, and have never been stung gassing a nest. Good luck.

Pour a little gas in the hole at night if they’re in the ground. Fumes will kill them

I got hit twice in the hand, hurts like a ****. Mine were wasps, and I think the same guy got me twice in under a second? possible?

Ya wife didn’t want her plants harmed so I tried the environmental approach. Oh but payback is coming for sure!

Now that I can understand. I'm all about nature. I cannot STAND having to kill something unnecessarily. But wasps and yellow jackets are necessary kills. lol

Wasps don't loose their stinger when they sting like honey bees do, so they have at you over and over.
I have even seen them drag the stinger and make a slice like a razor blade.

I hope you meant Wasps and not Bees. We need Bees.

I've been "hit" more than once by a hornet before... It's possible...

I just got hit by one a few weeks ago... I think he bit me and didn't sting... He took a small chunk of skin from my wrist... That hurt worse than a sting...

I’ve got it from Wasps, yellow jackets, bees and hornets. Hornets by far the worst since they’ll get you 2-3 times before you get them off. Man the swelling is rough.

My grandpa used to just walk up to wasps and hornets while they were flying around, and he'd just clap them between his hands, right out of the air. The Standing Ovation of Death for those bastards.

I never could bring myself to try it. I never knew if he wasn't getting stung, or he just didn't feel feel it for the carpal tunnel and a lifetime of work callused hands.

I'm a pussy. Brake or carburetor cleaner melts them.

This thread reminds me of a time when I was around 16 , came home drunk as a skunk, crawled up the stairs trying not to wake my dad, "he`d say get dressed , lets go build fence or some such punishment" , anyway I crawled in the top bunk and got nailed about 13 times by red wasps hiding under the sheet, no screen on window beside the bed /just an attic fan in it . Next morning all the spots just itched , or I might not have even remembered it --

They are actually very good engineers.
It's that time of year again.
Wasp, Hornet, Yellow Jacket.
All much better names than Hellcat with a Chrysler connection.
Marketing Fail.

In my experience, wasps hurt more when it happens, but there venom doesn't seem to have as much effect on me as yellow jackets.
I was going up a ladder between roof levels at work years ago. Just as I put my hands on the loop rails at the top I got hit by wasps in both wrists. Holy F'K did that hurt. Was all I could do to take the last step up and then run across the roof to get away. Hit my Nextel and told the boss to get someone up there with a couple cans of spray ASAP so I could come back down!. An hour later it just itched.
Another time got nailed by 6 yellow jackets while mowing. Didn't hurt near as bad when it happened. Hour later I went to the ER for a Benadryl IV cause my throat was swelling shut.

Wonder what S.T.E.M. classes that G.T. blonde cheerleader at center stage is taking? Sign me up, Ill be her lab partner.

Phone workmate got stung 24 times in the head by bees on top of a 24 foot ladder. Got under his hard hat! Had to shave his head at the hospital to get the stingers out. You don't just slide down an extension ladder.....
