So I like to look at people’s avatar closely because you can learn a lot from them.

One thing I’ve noticed is not all but a lot of people parking their cars inside their garages on large rugs come from California.

Am I off base or is this a law or just keeping the concrete clean due to their environmental laws? A trend? Or a merely a coincidence? Here in New England it would just attract bugs and mice
No judgement just observation.

It's also a place to hide leaking oil, and other. -- :D --

I have never seen or heard of that.

Again- just an observation. I like to visit the birthday page and see birthdays and learn about member on an individual level. Not a lot of info BUT you can see other cars and hobbies they are into to connect better.
I noticed a bunch of guys from Cali have their cars parked on rugs in their avatar picture in their garage and sure as snot, they seem to all most always be from California. I was just curious if it was a CA thing or just a mere coincidence. I’m in CT and it’s something we would not do because of bugs and mice. Sorry repeating my self.

I think it is an urban myth, maybe something to with chemicals, moisture, and the such. But when I store my vehicles on gravel, more than a month I do run the tires over cardboard….but in my “case” 30 can boxes work great. lol

how can you even tell in these avatars?
they are tiny

Carpeting just attracts scorpions here. Cardboard is kinda nice to lay on when working under the car. However, I can’t leave it there. Again, the scorpions like cardboard.

I park on plastic sheeting to keep the moisture in the ground (and concrete) from collecting on the underside. Minimizes rust.

Sounds like he was a real ID10T. Waste of a valuable car.

carpet? Naaaa. Maybe some black and white vinyl tiles or epoxy garage coat. I like cardboard, easy to slide around on when your under there and has just a little give to it. Can toss in trash after it gets stained.

Well, this has been Interesting.
But still not fully answered my question.
I’ll keep scorpions in mind too! Lol!
Never though of that.

Mice- holes in upholstery and poop everywhere. Scorpions- stung to death.
I’ll stick to New England- lol!
Thanks for helping out everyone. Still laughing- scorpions

you get them in the high desert in california too. buddy of mine bug bombs his garage a couple time a year to keep them down

Somebody in my area brought something back from AZ. I think they did some landscaping and brought a yucca or something home. Infested the area with Bark Scorpions. We know which street it started on and they are slowly migrating out. No natural predators for them here, but have noticed the lizards are starting to take a liking to them.

The Barks are the nasty little bastards. Haven’t been stung but I know people who have. Children and small pets as well as people with medical issues are at risk. I have to be careful in that I have cardiac issues. I should note we have a good extermination service. They keep the crickets and spiders at bay. Borax for the scorpions. So far this season I’ve only killed one.
