Ok not my car or an A body. My brother just bought a beautiful 69 coronet with a 440. The car had been sitting in a garage for several years. When car is first running hot or cold runs great after a few minutes floods out. I can see fuel drippings from the primary venturis. When hot or cold the engine runs better with idle screws all the way in. So to much fuel right? The car came with 2 carbs one an Edebrock the other a Carter look identical. So I put the other carb on and same thing. Now both carbs look new but have been sitting a few years. Could the needle and seat be bad in both? If I remember right the manual fuel pump has a bypass when the car has enough fuel. I pinched the fuel line when the car starts to load up and engine smooths out. So my question is has anyone had this problem? If so fuel pump or needle and seat or something else? Thank you for any help.

could be :
Needle and seat bad
Float level too high
Fuel pressure too high.
My guess is the last one. Eddy carbs only like 5.5 lbs. I have had to use a regulator for my Eddy even with a stock 273 pump!!

If 3 carbs are doing the same thing it is most likely not the carbs seems like excessive fuel pressure to me. Easy to check

Thanks I'll check the pressure tomorrow.

What kind of fuel filter does it have?
If you got grit and junk in the tank, and it makes it passed the filter, it wont take long for even a brand new carb to get junk in between the needle and seat and develop a problem like your describing

Thank you very much! I installed the regulator today and it runs great. I would have spent a lot of time and money and still not fixed the problem.
