Removed the dash pad, never had so much fun (not). I have a dash cap to install over the pad, couple of cracks in the pad, but this is the time to do it if it's gonna get done.
Please read and it may save someone the same sorta grief I ran into. After removing the pad I test fit the cap over it, I was very surprised at the good fit it had. I was prepping the pad and cap, getting the clamps ready, scuffing the pad and cap, on the inside of the cap there was a mfg sticker that was close to the gluing edge of the cap, it wouldn't peel of, of course that would be to easy, so I get some rubbing alcohol to loosen the glue on the sticker, I finally get it off and when I turn the cap over there's a dull white residue on the topside of the cap, but none on the inside where i was using the alcohol. I have tried washing it in hot soapy water, no joy, wiped Armor All on it, no joy, even tried white vinegar, nope, ain't coming off.
Called the place where I bought it, uh, just leave the sticker on it, hello! to late, that's why I'm calling, ever heard of this happening, is there a solution?, "uh, just spray some black paint over the spot", CLICK, that was the sound of Me ending your session of I don't give shititis !
I would never imagined this cap would be so vulnerable to mild solvents, I'm not talking about acetone or lacquer thinner, I mean rubbing alcohol, come on, it's even in glass cleaner.
So, please be careful when using these dash caps, do NOT have any type of solvents around, that's all I can say. I found some black bumper and trim spray I'm gonna try, nothing to loose, already out 115.00 bucks, I'll put the cap on and install it, but I won't reinstall all the dash stuff till I see what's gonna happen with the spray. I will say, it is a great fit on the pad !
