Slant Six Rebuild Price

I have a1986 Dodge Ram D100 that has a .225 slant six. My mechanic said that the piston rings were fried, and would probably be better off just rebuilding it. Its burning a quart of oil every 60 miles and has bluish smoke coming out of the tailpipe. A machine shop gave me an estimate of between $1500 & $1900, but I have to pull the engine. Provided there's no nasty surprises when they take it apart. The Shop has a good rep and reviews and has been there a long time. Does this price seem right? Thanks
If this helps, currently restoring my 67 Dart (and driving the forum guys crazy with all my questions) and had its original /6 rebuilt just a few months ago. Bored and all new internals except the crank....$1800
