Stuck on he side of the road for an hour it cooled down then started and drove fine back to the shop. Shop thinks it’s a coil problem. It’s weird it starts and idles fine but when hot dies in gear?! Thoughts??
Well, how old is the gas tank and has it been cleaned? I had a car some 480 moons ago and it would do the same thing, picked up garbage in the tank and made it's way up to the filter. Let it sit for a bit and drain back and it would run fine.
Coil will do the same thing except usually when you start it, it will go down the road again. Can be intermittent, you night go a mile, you might go 5, and so on. Coil, pick up coil in the distributor, one or the other.
I would check fuel first as that's kinda what it sounds like. Pull the coil wire, pull the fuel line and have someone turn it over a couple times so you can pump a bit of gas into a clean clear glass jar so you can see it.
