Does anyone have a photo of how far up the firewall the carpet should go? I figure I'll just cut around the column/pedals until it fits snug around my 4-speed hump?

Does the gas pedal mount to the floor like it does on B-bodies? Been awhile since I had an 'A' and I don't remember....but if it does, the important thing is that the gas pedal mounts in the upper corner of the heel pad. Then let the carpet fall where it may, trimming around the steering column plate. If your pedal does mount to the floor, you need to slide your carpet up a few inches from where it is in your picture.

Good read here, again sorry if it's not applicable..

A body pedal mounts up on firewall. Mines a 75, so slightly diff than OP. That’s about the only thing critical on front edge is don’t let it bunch up under the gas pedal hinge point. Then you just have to work with the molded areas and try to get the pad in to where your heel is on it. You can just see the corner of pad in my pic. Probably would have done it tighter around column, but I repositioned it after I trimmed some. This is a Trim Parts carpet. My original was shredded, but I think it was just a little shorter.

Looks nicer than some factory install jobs. I have seen some that were cut really bad at the firewall. Nice job.
