I always see his commercials on the WETV network while watching Law and Order.

What a scumbag! He's been in jail because he's a con man. How does he get away with this?

First time I've herd of him but then again I haven't met a preacher that I trusted or lots of people that attend church. I believe I just had many bad experiences with Christians.
Better not take my word for anything, I've attended church six times, since Wednesday, and I'll be heading back tonite

:poke:

Yea my kids want me to go to church but I won't to many bad experiences.
Well, if your not a Christian I dont expect you to feel at home in church (welcome, sure, but not at home

Now, if you ARE a professing Christian (and I dont know if you are) but if you are, you are in direct disobedience to God by not being a part of the local church

That is your opinion. MY opinion is, that organized religion, in general, has done nearly as much harm as good.

Well I am a believer I did preach on the streets in the big cities worked in the emergency room at the hospital prayed for the sick fed the needy as well as was at church even when the doors were closed.
Just before my wife died when she was 46 I found out she was sleeping with men in the churches that we attended. I raised 8 kids by myself the youngest was 2 when she died of cancer. Refused to get on welfare and that made the church people not happy and tried to take my kids from me. I am an honest hard working man I raised my kids the old fashion way to respect others and help the needy and fear GOD. If you think I am being disobedient in GODS eyes that's your belief not mine. Not trying to pick a fight but churches in my eyes are not Godly.

A group of people meeting to worship got is mentioned many times in the New Testament. I can think of one in particular in Acts. We are also called a body with Christ as the head. Paul even expands on this in 1 Corinthians saying that other Christians are the rest of the body and that we need them. If you aren’t attending church then you aren’t involved in the true body of Christ in my opinion. Sounds like you have had some awful dealings with church members in the past and I understand why you feel the way you do but keep in mind. Those men are just men. The Pope Is just a man, billy graham was just a man, we all screw up. Hopefully one day you find yourself in a church again.

Sorry guys I deleted it all not wanting to cause problems.

not talking about organized religion
I am talking about a group of Christians who meet in a local church to worship together and exalt one another...as we are commanded in Hebrews 10
6 times in 5 days, Damn you must have been a bad boy.

nah, missions conference
one week a year we dedicate to our world wide evangelism

Maybe he asked for forgiveness.....Jimmy Swaggert did. Well, he asked the first time; the 2nd time he just told his congregation "The Lord told me it's flat none of your business..." Who gets more pity: Him or his followers? Neither get any from me.

This is yet another instance where my curious question pops up....
HOw is it that people like this never fall victim to horribly disfiguring accidents? You know....Like the types of incidents that occur to those with incriminating testimony against certain political figures???

Like all things in this world, if there is something genuine, then there will be an example that is not genuine, a fraud... It’s obvious that this is and has been a fraud. What I personally find great about this, as a believer in the one true living God, is that it works both ways. If there is a fraud then there must be a genuine! You simply cannot have a fraud without it. Be encouraged that there is something out there genuine for each of us and if you haven’t encountered it then now just might be a great time to start searching!!

I have enough trouble trying to b a good Christian , I am far from perfect , but , I am forgiven -------------

FORSAKE NOT THE ASSEMBLING OF YOURSELVES TO GETHER >>bible/orig. king James .

I thank God that I, like you, have been forgiven but it’s certainly not easy keeping the flesh suppressed in this life. I don’t feel I’m an overly spiritual person but there is a spiritual war waging as we speak and when we let our guard down and take our focus off of God we struggle with our flesh. It’s what makes us human... We just have to keep up the fight and endure to the end and one of the best ways to stay strong in the fight is to follow His word and forsake not the assembling of yourselves together! Keep up the fight! There is a world out there just waiting and wanting to see you fall but there will be a reward for enduring!

James 1:12 KJV
[12] Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Tecarta Bible

I never heard of that bible before.

Where does it say that?
What bible?
Hebrews 10:25 in the King James Bible

Or how about this, Ephesians 4:11-12 tells us God gave us Pastors for the "perfecting of the saints"
That means if a christian is not in church, not only does God have a gift for him, he doesn't get to enjoy, he will also never be perfect (which in this case may mean mature, not sinlessly perfect)

Wanna hear a really cool thought?
Read Ephesian 5:25, look at who Christ died for, and then consider the salvation of one who doesn't want to belong to the church

So.....If a family lives out in the sticks, lives good lives and hurts nobody, They all burn in hell for not finding and attending a building full of other people to worship with? Really ?

if they truly love Jesus, why not start a church with their neighbours?

This response smacks of cultism and money.
To worship alone costs nothing but to worship within a congregation costs something every time. The ROOF needs repair, the pews need to be refinished, the grounds need maintenance, etc.

and you don't think God is going to take care of you if you give money to the church?

come one man, why would you even NOT want to be in church?
you're created to worship and the church is the place God ordained for you to do so
read the book of acts, look at how the Jerusalem church lived...that's what God intended

I would rather do right by my family and friends and give to individuals my time or my sympathy. I don't feel the need to gather with groups of people to feel like I am doing right by God or anyone.
I've heard that stuff before....Take care of me if I "take care" of the offering plate with the weekly tithe.
It would be fine if I didn't feel the breath on my neck from the tax man. When money is involved, it sure seems like the point of the church is NOT just about being a good person.
