NEW Slant Six Manifold for $98 on Ebay? Any good?

-
The one I got is a cleaner casting than the pictures show. It's more like the one in the link RRR put up, and mine came with all the same accessories. My guess is they all come from the same Chinese foundry.

Oh, and @RustyRatRod, I checked mine across the head mounting surface with my straight edge (a real one, guaranteed flat, I was a BMW wrench after all!) and it was good enough for the girls we date.

It bolted right up to my '64 head, easier than my warped and cracked original, though it was really close to the T-stat housing. You might have to do a bit of grinding there. I keep meaning to retorque the nuts and bolts, but I haven't yet. (Not that you need to, but all that metal supported by 10 ft-lb fasteners makes me nervous :))

I've probably put 1500 miles on it driving the car around town, and drove it to Morro Bay and back (500 mile round trip) and so far its been fine. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Well that's good news then. Maybe they're not so bad after all. I would still have to deburr mine if it came as bad as that fiste link showed. lol

I would think that India or China could successfully cast and machine something as simple as a slant six exhaust manifold.
Now if they would just do an aluminum slant head,,,

Yeah, just cast the frikkin head and "let us" worry about "the details". lol

Maybe if we all went through the e bay site and contacted the seller and asked about the aluminum slant six head,,, they would see there is some interest out there.

Which seller exactly are you talkin about? I'm game. What can we lose that we don't already have? lol

Ordered a manifold, ($89.45) will report its condition when it arrives on Friday.

Soooo the manifold arrived really fast. It’s also really terrible. I mean laugh your *** off bad. The exhaust pipe mounting end is simply unbelievable. Hard to believe this would be deemed acceptable to ship to anyone. Already requested a return. Seller was J.J. Original Equipment on EBay. Just say no.

Good one! I did see that Aussiespeed has a pair of headers for $408 US, but I still need wheels, paint, tranny rebuild,...,..you guys know the drill.....I just didn’t think it would be that hard to get a darn stock manifold!!

Is that the manifold I linked you to? For 110 bucks?

It’s the same company. I ordered just the manifold for $89 and they mistakenly sent me the $110 manifold/hardware set. If I was not an honest person I would keep the extra goodies for my troubles. The brass washers and acorn nuts looked good at least! The butterfly washers are absolute junk. I have no clue what that piece in the back right of the first pic is for but it’s practically made of tin foil and half the seams aren’t welded together.

That's the hot air pipe that connects to the air cleaner on later models.

The piece in the back upper right of the first photo is a warm air stove. Goes over the down pipe and feeds warm air into a valved port on the air cleaner snout. The OE warm air stoves were very lightly built also.

Oh this thing takes lightly built to another level! I will let you guys know how hard/easy the return process with this company is.

Sigh. I wish it weren't so, but it is. See here.

Yep, it is. $279 on Amazon is the cheapest I’ve found for the Dorman. It’s prob the way to go although Shoot at this point I may just get some AussieSpeed headers and be ready on the exhaust end for some future upgrades! Ebay did accept my return request quickly and I did get a response from the vendor claiming the exhaust would work even though it looked ugly.
I guess the quarter inch crescent shaped ledge of metal protruding into the manifold at the pipe end is no big deal! They will “accept” my return for refund however.
