If the car has modern belts and airbags, you should be good. The next level is where they drive themselves. I've been in some of those cars and don't like it.
My car has lane keeping assist and a warning that comes up when I go out of my lane. It still requires feedback on the steering wheel though. The best thing about new cars in my opinion is the ability to text and talk on the phone without taking your hands off the wheel. Too many idiots out there texting and driving and this will hopefully cut back on that.
