I’m removing the torsion bars and the service manual says there is a “plug” behind the retainer clip. There doesn’t seem to a plug and I think this is just the end of the torsion bar. I guess the plug is optional?

This is a 65 Valiant by the way.

That looks like a diagram of an old fury sub frame. Some of them had a grease fitting on the side. They might have had a plug. I owned several Demo and late models stock cars with that sub frame before the Volari and Aspen self contain K members . I never saw a plug on the c-bodies. I definitely never saw a plug on an A-body

Ok but now, that explains the huge gap between the clip and the seated bar.I always wondered if I should pull the bar all the way to the back or all the way forward or just let it fall where it might.
But No, I haven't seen a plug either.

plug wont fit in an A, maybe a B/C. Just getting the A bar that far in is a chore. Only in Fury, Polara, Chrysler and Imperial in 1965: No A, Belvedere or Coronet. Plug is part number 1825-582 for those following at home.....
